Hawa majamaa wengi huendesha magari kubwa Nairobi live a lie. Don't pay debts and have no savings

Never judge someone with the type of car he or she drives hii Nairobi. People are living a lie. Kuna mmoja amenizungusha only to find out he is almost being evicted na jamaa bado anaendesha gari kubwa.

Alete na 90k.

I have 2 clients: one a guy, the other a lady. Both have kids in expensive schools. Yearly fees is almost equal to their yearly salaries. They must top up with side hustles just to pay other bills. They are both perennially in debt. They’ve borrowed from family, friends, banks, chamas and mobile apps. They pay for everyday items with Fuliza.

The dude buys rounds of expensive drinks every weekend, and goes on expensive holidays and road trips every 3 months or so. He wears high-end brands and colognes. The lady drives a Mercedes. But they’d rather die than downgrade their lifestyles.

It’s easy for you to say. You don’t live in Nairobi anyway. Umezoea story za Bibi kupeleka Bwana kwa Sub-Chief.

Sasa nimeona kwa nini hata @johntez_addi_gaza_ms anasemanga hii kijiji imejaa umaskini.

The two people in the examples are personally known to me. The lady for 10+ years, the dude for 20+ years. One of my own siblings lives such a lifestyle, but not as extreme as these two.

Ive seen this trait as well in several people. Balling large alafu wakisota watokwe na the cool crowd they look for you to help them out.

Shida huwa these guys are addicted to consumer spending and have tied their identities to the brands they ‘own’ and the lifestyles they represent. Quite foolish to own (to be owned and controlled by) brands instead of actually owning cash producing, marketable assets that set you up for life. This a psychological issue that stems from low self esteem and the need to win approval. It eventually leads to bankruptcy and permanently ruins relationships, since these guys never honor their debts, since they have no assets to monetise, just “gucci” “iphone” “Mercedes” “vacation” etc

Generally if you see someone with a very nice looking Merc in your neighbourhood, you will end up buying it from them at some point.

Not really a brand for showing off, but some marketer managed to trick people.
