How do I access my files in a password protected external harddisk. I can’t access the third folder (G) of which I remember the password but it doesn’t prompt anywhere to put the password
I thought kijiji iko na ma genius. @PHARMACY kuja unisaidie kipande hii
What do you mean you can’t access the harddisk…it’s not mounting? Huoni drive?mimi ni msee wa Linux… Windows it’s been over a decade…so it might not apply…
Basics first… I would make sure harddisk inapata power…check power input…sikiza if spinning bila Kelele… next check/replace your data cable…lastly maybe formatting compatibility…have you used it before on the same machine? Diagnostics huanzia baby steps…one by one

Formatting incompatibility ndiyo issue most likely…windows does not recognize your format system most likely…do you know file system ya external?
You would have to format your hard disk in a file system your machine supports…but you need to recover your files first for back up…unless hauna haja na the data in that hard disk
How will I back up the files in the unreadable disk g
I can easily read any file format in Linux…maybe your disk was formatted by a Mac…or whatever format…ulisema uko na password…so you encrypted yourself in what format? What OS…Uko hapo…
Ilikua win×86bit but sasa natumia win×64. I think that might be it. Sande sana
Hapo kwa 86bit unamaanisha 32bit?
Have you tried reading the hard disk using Linux?
Launch command prompt cmd and execute attrib command to that drive and see if you can view contents
Zii ×86bit architecture. No sija jaribu Linux I sm going to
Nilianza na hii
Kwani what are they teaching in comp colleges nowadays? Ni upuzi gani hii nasoma hapa? Do you think booting Linux will enable you bypass the password you claim to have set?
Wacha upuzi. Whatever tool you used to set the password is what you should use to unlock the drive. Otherwise lack of a password isn’t the problem.
Who said bypass password…wewe na atwoli ni same whatsapp…no comprehension but Kelele nayo…bila any useful input for OP
There is useful input there that can be understood by those that have even the most basic comp literacy. But i’ll leave you to it.
OP was asking basic questions…si wewe umujibu na CS PHD yako…shenzi…or elucidate OP with your knowledge
Look for an identical hard disk without a password,
Interchange the circuit boards and you will view the files. BUT if was manufacturered after 2019 this method will not work, the password is stored in the circuit boards for old drives but on newer drives it’s stored in the disks them
This is a nice assumption but where will I get onother same harddisk. Let it be the last option to retrieve my forgotten bitcoin coins:D. Enlighten me more elder
Have you tried YouTube uone kama utasaidika? Indians on YouTube come in handy hoping utapata wale wenye wanaongea English kwa video zao.
Find out the file system format and plug in the disk in an OS that can read it…you have exactly 99 days before your bitcoin is worth 99 cents…
