Harambee shot dead

tasers work by electric current, right?

If you touch someone (or animal) that’s being tasered, you won’t feel the effect unless you’re touching a spot in between the probes… which is a narrow area to begin with.

I also wonder why aren’t there non lethal means of animal control.

And these zoos as much as they want the enclosures to look as natural they should also make a way to deter visitors from encroaching.

Speaking of tasers…This one goes for $30 on Amazon. Imagine having one of these for personal protection.

in any contact with an animal, it takes just a moment for the animal to turn from harmless to ferocious…the risk multiplies many times over where there is a hysterical screaming crowd trying all manner of antics, say, to have it release the child. just think of a domestic cat, purring innocently on in normal time but try to punish it in an enclosed space…zoo animals are not in their natural habitat. they cannot tell and there is no way of determining how stressed they are so one cannot judge how they will react to further stress, however little…

You don’t own a zoo, they do.
You have zero experience on animal behavior, they do.
It was a long ten minutes of the animal dragging the kid around before the decision was taken and it was after consultations with animal experts.
There were 3 gorillas in the enclosure, they were called out immediately by their handlers, 2 female ones responded but the male didn’t.
He dragged the kid to the far end of the enclosure far away from human reach.
It was a matter of saving the kid or let the 400 pound animal shred it to pieces.
