Just spotted in Lavington. The beast refused to die.
Nakumatt Mega is also restocked
nakumatt prestige is fully functional
Apparently the poachers didn’t use enough poison on their arrows
i miss my old nakumatt ningepita na mzinga ya bei msuri hata kama nime sota
I miss Nakumatt a lot. They had a wide variety of goods. The idiots weren’t paying suppliers, 30 billion debt. They now pay upfront to get supplies and whatever revenue they get goes to wages, operations costs and debt repayment. Profit will come after a decade. Carrefour is a big disappointment, dull and limited stock. The new Naivas in capital centre Mombasa road is probably the best supermarket layout in Kenya and its stock is great. Quickmatt is the one to watch out for, its lavington branch is a big hit. Fresh food and vegetables.
I have always admired Nakumatt for the landmark malls they put up across the landscape of Kenya. A tour in any Nakumatt supermarket/hypermarket was a recuperative exercise in itself. Plus they had everything under one roof. But so much for their hideous business practices. They will pay for it for so long to come.
they were only anchor tenants.

Usually the first, and the leading, tenant in a shopping center whose prestige and name recognition attracts other tenants and, it is hoped, shoppers. Anchor tenant generally pays rent rate lower than that paid by ancillary tenants.

Sawa mwarimo. Nitasoma baadaye
That is very unwise of them. The owners should have just launched a new entity and told suppliers/banks to fuck themselves. They are throwing in good money after bad money, unless those with the largest debts decided to convert their debts into shares. The only reason Nakumatt may be restocking is if it was taken over by major creditors who realized that they would never get their $$ back. That debt must have been converted to equity. So basically, I am willing to bet that Atul Shah and the rest are not the owners of new Nakumatt. But this is my opinion so take it with a pinch of salt
:D:D
Ona uyu.
Itakufa tu.
Are they trying to lie to us that they have cleared all those billions in debt?
Alafu, most of the prime locations went with Carrefour, they will never get that back.
If suppliers and banks converted their debts to equity, it means that the debts are largely cleared so if the new owners are smart they can relaunch the chain successfully and debt-free. This is a better deal for them than letting their money evaporate. After all, the brand name is still worth something and Nakumatt still has a few prime locations.
There is no way to settle those debts they owed. Waache ujinga, they are killing malls all over Kenya with their desperate kicks of a dying horse.
That’s nakumatt only name…Kama humjui real new owners msipayuke
As spear said, Naivas and Quickmart are the ones to watch.
I hope Nakumatt has sealed the employee theft problem. Syndicates were shipping out of warehouses to fencing partners like crazy, and they even killed an auditor who was about to expose their activities.
Looks like DP uncle looter is taking good care of you.
Cheap shot.
The theft was across the board from directors, management to staff. Simply because they supermarket grew fast based on mwau wash wash laundry mart business. They were paying more taxes than sales. In Rwanda they are the biggest tax payer. When Mwau was listed as wanted and usa companies warned not to trade with him or his companies, then the gravy train ended. They couldn’t cover that huge lose in revenue and the supermarket was unsustainable big.
