For the longest time, I have felt like an under-achiever. Yet, to many of my friends and relatives, I am fairly successful. But s hard as I try, I can never shrug off the monkey of self-criticism; I am not where I think I should be.

My main concern revolves around the issue of my net worth.

So my question is, what is a reasonable net worth for AN AVERAGE self-made man in Kenya at the following ages (I am assuming the man leaves uni at 23, get his first job at 25, and goes through the normal struggles and challenges of losing some money to pyramid schemes, relas etc etc as well as meeting his societal obligations such as marriage, school fees, charities, church, etc etc):

Net worth - ile pesa itabaki when you sell all your fixed and current assets and pay off your debts.

Please be realistic.

At ages:

i) 30
ii) 40
iii) 50
iv) 60
v) 70

At 30 between 1M and 2M as you are just establishing yourself and through with life stupid shenanigans…

40 - 25m
50 - 45m and start seeing the world
60 - 15m balance ya touring the world
70 - 5m emergency money juu hujui how many years are left before u kick the bucket

I am a few yrs shy 30yrs.I thought at 30 I would have hit 1m+ .But the drama that has been my investment journey wacha tu.So realistically to have a net worth of 1m @30 is somewhat achievable but not easy. Izo miaka zingine guka sijui labda wenye wamepitia hiyo age bracket watusho.

Below 25yrs…at least 1 mil. Below 30…5 mil. At 40, 20 mil. At 50…100mil. At 70…200mil.

Actually as you get older you become a ‘bigger miser’. Note that clubs, cars lose their appeal quicker. You are obscessed with the legacy you leave behind.

For instance if we take a 70year old and a 40 year old with a net-worth of 200m. The 70 year old will drive a v8 or old range rover(around 5-10m MAX) most likely while the 40 year old will probably be trying to import some car that is not yet around, live in Lavington, dine only at 5 star restaurant, drink at exclusive bars :D:D:D
