Cc:Ciku Muiruri’s perspective
Based on yesterday’s #Gubernatorialdebate, Miguna did very well, he was prepared but rubs me the wrong way because he feels that to make a point, he has to toss insults at his opponents. As entertaining as it may be, I would like a governor with some decorum. Who can forget that tirade on Passaris? .
Why does Sonko think Thailand is in Bangkok? Why was he surprised that orphans have no parents? And why can’t he answer simple questions like what he’d do if hawkers violated his policies? The central govt funds he wants to solely rely on to run the County (that is more than capable of being self sustaining, should be a red flag to us all). And why did Joe Ageyo forget to ask him about his fool hardy plans of transforming Uhuru Park into a bus/matatu terminus?
Finally, that chummy camaraderie Sonko and Kidero have, speaks volumes.
Peter Kenneth is the only sane option but he needs to lay out specific plans and not be too general in his approach. He needs passion. He needs to make us believe he wants this thing. I’m looking forward to his manifesto where I believe he’ll do just that!
Finally, all of them have to come up with concrete ways of bringing informal sector workers into the streamlined economic fray or we’ll never develop. They are the hardest working amongst us yet their efforts do not reflect on our GDP. On the media side, these candidates need to be fact checked on all the accusations they are making about each other. Tabling of evidence should be on us, not them
