Where does the maxim ‘Government of the people, for the people,by the people’ fall?
A mix of the socialist and liberalism are the best like Denmark style… Capitalism ni meffi!
True. The Nordic model is the best model in terms of the convergence of e conomics and governance. (True) Capitalism is dying.
Only possible in a highly egalitarian society
Read John Rawls ideas on equality and opportunities…in Denmark one is basically born in an ‘original position’ behind a veil ignorance…you all have a fair start in life…and the countries are rich.
Liberalism…we actually have a strand of democracy which we pretend to subscribe to known as liberal democracy. Democracy can not exist without liberal ideals such as liberties, rights, equalities etc
Is the type of government that a client state runs dependent on its master government?
Liberitarian all the wayyyyyy.
I love free enterprise, I hate government interference. I’ve adapted a lifestyle that I don’t go to the “so-called government” for anything!
But, everytime I meet government-agents they want SOMETHING from me.
So I tell them - “I have never voted and never will”." WHY? " They ask. I tell them ‘a vote that cost’s nothing is worth nothing’ - I’d rather pay to vote than participate in the big joke called a “free-and-fair” election.
They tell me… We don’t care about that shit. The rest of all of “us” agreed(by voting) that the words that come from our mouths (aka LAW) is all we care about and if you don’t play by our rules - we have guns, prisons, fines e.t.c (basically, they use coercion- they initiate a threat to overwhelm your will by force or threat of force, or through less noticeable forms such as fraud)
But we are scammed every 5 years by people who outrightly lie to your face that they will do this or that if you get them to ‘office’. Case in point, last year people were given “gas-yetu” come September gede ni 130…
Wake up - most people seek(read DEMAND) solutions from the same people who created the same problems they want to be free from.
“Government” - does not produce anything. Instead people masquerading as government steal from you. They do not create any value but instead DESTROY already created value to keep their racket going.
I laugh everytime I hear people saying that there are cartels in “the government”. The government itself is the cartel.
If you examine anything being “done by government,” you will find human beings doing whatever is being done. They may also use equipment and machinery, but the most important work is done by individual human beings. If you go to a school, you will not find any “government” that runs the school. You will find a principal, a number of administrative people, and several teachers - all individual human beings. No matter what government monopoly you examine, for example a police station, you will find that the important work is done by individual human beings. If you visit a military installation, or a court, or a jail, or a hospital, or a road being built, you will find individual human beings doing the work.
The fact that these human beings call themselves “government,” does not imbue them with magical powers to do their jobs better than those individuals who do not call themselves “government.”
In general, people who don’t call themselves “government,” can do anything humans can do, at least as well as people who call themselves “government.”-( WE ALL CAN STEAL/SERVE .) Why is this opportunity monopolised?
Is there any evidence that just because people call themselves “government,” or they organize themselves into an institution called “government,” they can do their jobs better?
Generally, the people who call themselves “government” operate on a different basis from that of the people who don’t call themselves “government.” The following assumptions seem to underlie the behavior of the people who call themselves “government”
1.We are the only ones qualified to do the things we do; therefore we must have a monopoly to do the things we do and no one else may do them.the SGR PROBLEM, EXPENSIVE ROADS, CRAP HEALTHCARE, NYS etc
2.In particular, we must be the only ones who have a monopoly on legalized violence.=ARMY
3.Because we are so “highly qualified”, we can’t persuade people to do what we want; therefore we must use coercion, violence, and armed police to force them to follow our orders.=I’m sorry @pamba =MAKARAU
4.Because we are so highly qualified, we can’t persuade people to pay for our wonderful services; therefore we must use coercion, violence, and armed police to force them to pay.=TAXES
5.Because we do our jobs so well, we must use coercion, violence, and armed police to force people to not compete with us.
6.Some of our friends (who don’t call themselves “government”) are uniquely qualified to do the things they do (like doctors and other special-interest groups); therefore we grant them monopolies (licences), so they don’t have to compete with unqualified quacks in a free market. Guess what this will do to medical costs - and the licence fees and campaign contributions we’ll be able to collect! =BIG PHARMA, LAWYERS, DOCS etc
Governments utilize coercive power, the power of violence, the power that stems from the barrel of a gun, power over or against people, government power at the expense of individual power. Government is organized violence. Governments, over time, tend to do their utmost to eliminate individual power. With a few exceptions, governments do not solve problems, they create them.
DISCLAIMER :
There are good people in government who produce worthwhile results. These valuable results are produced, not because the good people call themselves “government,” but because they are good, competent, skillful people. If these people were to leave government - stop calling themselves “government” - I expect they would be able to produce even better results.
What I know is that the Western model - where predatory individual rights supercede the common socio-economic rights of the commune - is not sustainable. The weight of this model’s inefficiencies and wastage will ultimately lead to its collapse.
The Chinese model, where the community is elevated above the individual is what is more natural. A bee or ant is worth nothing on its own.
Was this a paper for the lecturers at KSG?
Nope.Hell no!!!. I don’t give a shit if them lecturers in KSG get paid /not. I’m just replying to a thread…
I do not request /require anyone to conform to how/what I think.
Summary liberals are just proponents of anarchy.
“you in the right church but the wrong pew” Liberal is very different from Liberitarian. Libertarians are/May be proponents of anarcho-capitalistsm.
A lot of words but of very little worth. Your problem seems to be the word ‘government’ and nothing else. Whatever you call it, an organizational structure has to exist for there to be order. Otherwise it will be a situation of everyone for himself, God for us all and the ‘mwenye nguvu mpishe’.
That organizational structure naturally has to be funded mostly through taxes for public structure and revenues for private structures. Whether private or public an organizational structure has to exist with people playing different roles for it to be effective. So ‘government’ is not all that bad. Even at home you are the head of your government and you expect people to abide by certain rules
Quote from House of Cards: Democracy is overrated.
The 2008 American crisis taught the world one thing: you can’t trust the Adam Smithian invisible hand, it ends up being controlled by cartels. That marked the end of free market capitalism, the hand must be controlled overtly. You now understand why govts like Kenya are being used to experiment on price controls by IMF
That lengthy BLP paragraph illustrates how verbose, vague and tedious socialism can be.
