Gov Joseph Ole Lenku - Kimuka Community Water Project in Kajiado West

I am elated by the progress we are making in providing water to different regions in the County.

Today, we have signed an MOU with the Contractors of the SGR (China Communication Company) for the Kimuka Community Water Project in Kajiado West.

The project has a capacity to pump 1.6 Million litres and will use gravity to reach area residents upto 100 KM stretch towards Magadi area.

There will be two tanks each with a capacity of 800,000 litres.

The County Government will desilt the Olosho Oibor dam to enable it be a reservoir for water we can use during the dry seasons.

I appeal to local residents to desist from diverting this water to private use.

We shall continue to partner with investors in our County to have more life changing community projects.

This natural Aquifer was discovered by CCCC during the SGR tunnel construction. They then informed Nema and authorities. They conducted the study on it and had it verified. They then took up its construction as CSR project to build a two tanks of 1.6 million storage capacity, pumping stations and pipe network to serve the greater Kajiado county water needs. With the study they can pump just enough without exceeding its natural replenish capacity. Kajiado isn’t just getting 2 SGR passenger stations (Ngong-Rongai), a SEZ industrial zone but now a new water source and piped network for the county.
