Hizi vitu huwa mnatoa wapi ? The Day we start growing food that we need to sustain ourselves, that’s the day most Kenyans will realize food security wasn’t an issue in .ke.
Right now, we have, coffe, Tea, Avocado… occupying so much arable land, and the harvest is meant for export. What if , we planted what we consume ?
So if every kenyan grows food for own consumption pesa watatoa wapi? Who will they sell to and they cant export mahindi, sukuma na viazi? Havent you seen cabbages rotting in farms in nyandarua, or farmers pouring excess milk?
The secret to richness is to create/make/produce something that many people want but they cant make it themselves. That is why producing/growing coffee and tea and avocado is the best option for farmers since billions of people all over the world want coffee and tea and avocado daily but dont have the climate, soils or capacity to produce them, meaning that this is a market that will be there forever. And the good thing is that the target market are the rich europeans and americans meaning they will always buy what we produce coz wako na pesa.
Isn’t the problem in the purchasing power of the citizenry ? Per square kilometer, Nairobi has the highest number of people surviving on one meal a day, courtesy of poverty.
If Nairobian and it’s environs, people were able to consume 3 square meals a day, and snacks in between, those cabbages and the milk produced in the Kenyan highlands won’t be enough.
Surely vile kunanyesha kama faking maji itakua scarce aje ? Vile tunavuna season after season sioni kama tutakua na shida ya food labda ghaseeer za town ama wale skinnies WA N.eastern
That is why it makes sense for someone to produce something that rich people will buy eg tea, coffee, avocado, macadamia. A farmer is there to make money just like any other business person, the farmer is not a philanthropist to grow food to feed the poor in urban areas.
Never saw it that way. Hii ni ile man eat man society In full view. Yaani multitudes are starving when just a few km away as the crow flies food is rotting in farms
That will be a tragedy. Tutakuwa kama Congo. Tutakuwa na youths wengi wameshiba, wako jobless, wako kwa crime, wanazaana ovyo ovyo, na chakula sio shida, so hakuna kitu mtu anaeza waambia
Wheat needs cool temperate conditions to produce. Kenya is 75% arid and semi arid meaning wheat can only be grown in a few areas in the highlands. And the mechanisation needed for wheat production means you need flat land in the cool highlands and such lands are few in kenya. Most cool highlands in kenya are not flat to enable wheat production and are best used for tea production. In contrast zelensky has lots of cool temperate flat land and that gives him a competitive advantage when it comes to wheat.
