Now that 2016 has ended and I have kept you on your toes with some good recommendations here are some more selections that you may have missed
The Get Down - shows the evolution of HipHop and Disco music in the late 70s. Shows a sneak peak into the lives of famous HipHop Djs e.g. Grandmaster Flash and Dj Kool Herc. NAS voices the intro song in each episode. Hands down the best music series I have watched wachana na the soap, Empire chieth. Can’t wait for Season 2
Goliath - this is a good contender to Billions for the best new legal dram TV show. If you got tired of the endless Mike and his girlfriend love stories from Suits and want to see some serious legal drama performances on the level of Boston Legal this is definitely one to watch
Shut Eye - Jeffrey Donovan; the lead actor from Burn Notice, stars as a scammer under a Romanian gang. Shows his struggle with his wife to get over the cartel’s grasp and make some money for their family.
Forgot to add one more show that I really enjoyed.
Atlanta - shows the struggle of a bright college graduate, Childish Gambino, as he tries to make a name for himself as a music promoter working as a manager for a coming up ghetto HipHop artist. He is broke, struggling with a come we stay marriage etc.
I could never bring myself to like Start Up. Not sure why.
Speaking of dramas, nobody seems to have watched The Newsroom. A brilliant show died after only three seasons because it became too expensive to produce. And The Practice, the show that came before Boston Legal, equally brilliant but less cartoony. Have to admit though the balcony conversations in BL were memorable.
Goliath looks interesting. That’s right up my alley. I’d never heard of it! Thanks.
I am yet to prove him wrong too when I watch it. Practise and Boston legal are up there in legal dramas. Suits came close but that fag spoilt everything when his character was like he uses his humongous dick to push the sun in the morning to rise.
Never mentioned Newsroom because it was an old series and I was mentioning shows that have only been released in 2016. But it is the best series on journalism and TV show production I have watched. I even remember the way will the lead actor RKOed some college student on the first episode
There is a new show called Notorious(2016) which is a mix of journalism and legal drama but after watching 2 episodes I couldn’t bring myself to continue watching it
To be honest, I was quite biased when watching the Startup since it features a Kenyan, edit Gathegi who has already made himself a name as a great villain performer in Blacklist, the fine movie; Gone Baby Gone and finallt the Twilight Saga. It was a relief seeing him a a good bad guy at the end of Start Up
He’s a great actor… there’s something about him playing gangsta that I can’t seem to believe no matter how much I want to. Plus his Caribbean accent was weak. Have you scene Method Man playing gangsta? The man is scary!
With regard to Start Up… there were some unnecessary sex scenes that added absolutely NOTHING to the plot. Left me wondering if am going to see someone taking a dump next. The pacing also wasn’t doing it for me.
