I’m tempted to believe that he is the sharpest head of state in Africa. There is something that stands out for him. He once chastised Emmanuel Macron straight to his face. But what’s more? His policies. He has a govt program that has given 100,000 graduates skills in areas of tax collection, education, industrialization and agriculture, all this in rotation. Each of the beneficiaries has gone ahead to gainful employment and entrepreneurship.

He has managed to have a processing factory in each district tho this he hasn’t achieved in full but almost. His track record of fighting for human rights as a lawyer and more. The guy stands out just like Ghanaians have, generally. I find the country as the beacon of hope for African renaissance.

Ghana’s peaceful elections emerges from Nkurumah’s building of a tribeless nation. For his massive economic and political failure, only him and Nyerere managed to reduce if not eliminate tribalism in their multiethnic nations.

Ghana just needs to avoid the awful economic practices that other African nations have fallen into. Taking out huge debt hedged on oil exploration and having a bloated govt didn’t help them one bit. They also should concentrate on strengthening their local currency and reduce external debt.

I have listened to this speech several times in the past and I never tire of listening and hoping one day we shall have a Kenyan president/leader who can talk like this and with great conviction in the abilities of the Kenyan people and love for Jamhuri. But, more than the talk, one who can walk the talk…and surround himself/herself with people of same mindset…because a leader cannot succeed no matter how good they are if they are surrounded by hyenas. When shall we get a selfless and intelligent leadership?

We are not Scandinavians and we will never be. It’s really a non issue to us Africans. Our challenges are very unique as compared to European countries. Africa will progress when everyone will take a keen interest in OUR politics. All of us.
