Ghana citizens rejoice as their president lifts ban of 21 days lockdown
Ghana is the first African country to lift its Coronavirus lockdown
Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo has lifted the ban on immigration or ‘lockdown’ in some parts of the country that were shut down to control the spread of the corona virus.
People are now required to wear masks in the country, and restrictions such as school closures and public gatherings are still in place. The country’s borders will also remain closed for two more weeks as the fight against the corona virus continues.
President Akufo-Addo said the sale came after a good understanding of the prevalence of infection and a large population-based screening and treatment program.
The capital of Accra, the second-largest city in Kumasi as well as the industrial city Tema were put on a ban for outsiders for three weeks to prevent corona virus infections.
The country has so far recorded 1,042 patients with corona virus and nine deaths.
More than 6,000 samples have been tested in Ghana.
Most of those diagnosed in the country are travelers or people who have encountered travelers.
The Ghanaian government has also introduced the use of unmanned aircraft to facilitate the sending of test samples. The country has also increased the production of specialized clothing for health workers to protect themselves from infections.
Authorities also said they would continue to monitor the spread of the disease and impose other restrictions if needed in areas with high transmission rates.
You still are because the purpose of a lockdown is not to stop a virus from spreading. It is to slow the speed at which it spreads so that the health care system is not overwhelmed. But I would have to explain that simple concept to you 1 million times for you to understand. A partial (key word partial) lockdown is necessary. A full lockdown is not practical.
The last bit I disagree.
That’s Kenyan cases are going up every day.
Other countries have done it.
Our jirani Uganda have done it.
Luckily for me,I was issued with a MOWKs sticker allowing my daily movement.
Kenyans think they are so special.
Lock down the whole country would have been the best thing.
Says the guy with the MOWKs sticker allowing him to drive anywhere at any time. I don’t support a total lockdown because it would only benefit the rich. I bet that you are a 1 percenter and it is natural for you to propose what suits you best with total disregard of the peasant in Majengo slums.
No lockdown or curfew is dangerous from a human lives lost perspective. Total lockdown and curfew is economically dangerous for the majority of the people who live from hand to mouth. A lockdown of hot spots like Nairobi and a night curfew would be the ideal solution for a third world country like ours. Exactly what the government is doing. You try to find a balance between the number of human lives lost and the negative economic impact.
