Furniture Stores

There seems to be quite a number of furniture stores especially along Msa Rd, Westlands, Thika Rd & now at Two Rivers. I figure the items sold there are not for mwananchi wa kawaida as they sell beds for 100K+, what kind of margins are in the furniture they sell and where do they import them from China/Malaysia and do they have local suppliers? Anyone know the financials for these kind of furniture stores?

A lot my mblo… a lot. but if you take the longer route of going to china, making an order while there kwa Factory enyewe, minimises the cost akuna middle man, then wait for around 3 weeks to 4 weeks,
Then ship things to Kenya, then u sell at a leather recliner sofa set at 280k

Tiga Ki @Gio sir wa meni

100k is childs play drive to panesar you will find locally made bed going for Btwn 600k-1m…their margins are wicked this year their half year profit was 300m.

What would an average profit margin in % be on items in stores such as Victoria Courts and does that mean the middle-upper class Kenyans have enough purchasing power for so many of these stores to come up and attract international brands such as Villeroy&Boch, even Ford Mustang launched yesterday

Where’s Panesar, and where do they source their furniture locally. Know of one Italian guy who makes really good and bloody expensive furniture and is a supplier to some of these stores

Panesar is near airtel headquarters on the opposite side…they build everything from scratch you walk in there you forget about imported furniture but they are damn expensive they even have wooden doors going for 4m… Their client list includes dj ck, Tabitha Karaja & the president just to mention a few…

You work there? You seem to know a lot about them.

Half year profits of 300MM, wow. The quality of product is everything in the furniture industry, even in the hotel industry, think Radisson Blu is also their client

Nope!!! some of my clients are customers there… I also work on side projects with their fundis.

Thier quality is impeccable, they have a vanish finish that looks like glass it second to none… I went there for the first time I couldn’t believe the pieces I saw were made in kenya. On your free time pay them visit am sure when you get back utatoa ushuhuda.

You dont have believe me… Walk in there ndio utajua watu wako na Pesa.

So anyway (tips) of getting into the high end of furniture business?

You can start by collecting pieces from individual craftsmen and selling them online for a commission. This will help you in understanding the market b4 you take the plunge.
