So taoday as I was going to visit a friend, I got lost a bit and used some rough road. Gari iko chini so kuna mahali nimegwara some rock or something and I felt some smell of petrol. i suspect that my gas tank Imetoboka in the process. how can i tell that this is what really happened? and if so I have a leak, what do the repairs entail and the costs, how much is this likely to set me back?
just park the car on a dry concrete surface kama kuna leak utajua
Sawa. let me try it
Pole. Fuel tanks dont puncture easily they tend to dent instead. Fuel lines are more delicate
ONYO tu.
If the tank does require repair that entails gas welding, please wash it out thoroughly with water and detergent until the petrol vapours are gone.
Years back I was doing a mod that entailed cutting this tank to drop in a submersible pump.
I hadn’t done a good enough job of cleaning it.
When I held the torch to it, the tank swelled up, flew away and landed hukooo…
Senji kabisa.

hahaha
I was about to tell him about simply emptying the tank. Had forgotten that the vapors are the real deal
just drive in to one of the tyre alignment shops or a garage and get them the lift the car up, that way you will have good clearance to walk under the car and visually inspect the entire fuel and exhaust system to see what is bend and/or leaky.

yuko ushelisheli on a much needed break, word on the street is he graduated from walking on small water pools and he currently just floats around the ocean high as fuck
we definitely need to link up again once he is back, before the usual watering hole shuts its door for the last time ![]()
yake ilifika kwa mgongo kitambo, 10 years ago ilikuwa ishafika kwa mabega so you can do the deductive math and figure out how far its gone now
Jamitush chinja muratina utuite nikuje na Omosh.
i have confirmed that there is a leakage. Some fluid was left where i had parked the car. So what are the possible cost implications? in case the sump or fuel tank ndio imetoboka?
Where was the fluid? Was the position of the leaked fluid flush with the position of the tank or sump or neither? Sump and tank do not contain the same kind of fluid by the way (of course you are aware of this ama?), and the implications and repairs are totally different.
the leakage iko mbele kwa gari. I think the oil sump was damaged
It sounded in the initial post as if the fluid smelt like petrol. Sump huleak engine oil whose colour will be anything from honey (light yellow) colour to deep brown to black.
Are you driving a VW Touran? They are notorious for that kind of damage. The sump is so low hanging it gets hit almost every time someone drives fast over a bump. The sump replacement is expensive. Immediately after replacing it, make sure you remove those useless plastic sump guards which the car comes with and install a steel one. I always advice the same for Mercedes car owners too. Ng’oa plastic sump guard immediately on buying such cars. And if it is a Touran and I were you, I would sell that car.
