Forester Vs CX5

Could anyone advise between the Forester and Mazda CX-5. Which trumps the other?

Forester iko na power na iko na durability

Forester XT anytime: Questions have been asked over the CX5 turbo as well as the power by XT is out of this world: 250-270BHP

It’s a close call in comparison, depends on personal taste

For 2nd Gen, it puts out 250BHP just like the forester but we have a catch: 2.5 Liter engine compared to the forester XT at 2.0 liter engine. You know what that means.
If we look at the AWD of forester, none comes close to that in virtually all machines-Youll feel it when you go offroad. Im not sure of the CX5 though but comparisons with other high end models see the SUbaru take the day.

turbo is a very recent addition to the CX 5…and i guess its an option on the high end trims, perhaps signature…i don’t think he’s looking to buy 2019 models

cx5 only trumps forester on better fuel consumption

Also driving dynamics, initial price and subjectively, looks, tho the forester xt looks good too

Been reading Baraza of the motoring column in daily nation and he keeps mentioning the disadvantages of electronic steering found in all recent Subarus. He says when (not if) you have to change it, the price is several hundred thousands. Any one familiar with that?

in recent models of Subaru there is talk of steering rack problems. But the recent being talked about is pre-2012. This was fixed after 2012. So you should aim for a forester xt of +2012.
All in all the forester is manly, add that S# which engages beast mode on the road.

Forester if u do a lot of off roading but cx5 if u spend a lot of ur time on tarmac… Nb kuna forester zina cvt out here

What about rav4 in offroading?

Small and overpriced… Can’t compare with the above two

As @Kenyanbor4 has said the issue seems to have been solved in 2013 subarus and onwards…plus its only the non turbo versions that use an electric steering, the xt uses hydraulic

This one does not fit this discussion: that’s an overrated toy.

Correct: I do a 2014 forester XT with CVT.

Thought XT ni auto, then NA ndio CVT?

XT is CVT, though pre-2013 I believe is auto. CVT is different from auto. You don’t hear that gear shift, continuously variable transmission up to 8 gears

FXT2.0 (2014)is slighly more fuel efficient but the driving range is even better in city & hwy about 50 km difference with CX-5 Turbo (2023). Check this comparison from Edmunds.
