thats my question too

The ballast tanks will be pumped with air kama submarine…

wild guess. the ferry carrying ferry will empty its ballast tanks/fill them with water so that it loses buoyancy and sinks some to a point where the carried ferry will be floating on its own to be tugged away from carrier before it sails on own power…

I support what @gashwin has said. The mother ship has to lower itself one way or another but the most plausible is to fill it’s ballast tanks with water and gradually sink like a submarine.
