Guys after waiting for 9 years Karatina market has opened. This is a game changer for the unemployed youths pale Karatina… Largest market in East Africa is now open… Good news
However, after nearly a decade of intriguing twists and turns, there is hope at last for thousands traders who hope to start using the facility again in the next few days.
“We are indeed very grateful to the leaders who have pushed this project to its logical conclusion. It is a happy ending and we believe this time we are getting the real deal,” said Mr Kimondo.
the market was opened today
Correction: What used to be the biggest Open Air Market In East and Central Afric inafunguliwa after nine years and reduction is size. Ngoja zile vita utaskia zimetoka huko. ‘Foreigners’ wamepewa vibanda at the expense of bona fide traders who have called the market a source of livelyhood over the decades.
(this nigga used to trade in nyanya and passion fruit in that market early this century. Could make 2K every Tuesday,Thursday and Saturday. What I hate most about that time was that I was as naive as naive comes…jaba ya thate, tusker mbili na hata coomer siezi tafuta na hiyo pesa yote…who ever said money attracts coomer, maybe in this century. Every day,a chip fall off, and you get to know Scumbag, and yeah,it will get used against me…go on ferker)

And now to the shocker these vibandas have cost taxpayers 600milions!!
LOL, why?
Such things can happen in other Mt Kenya regions but not in Nyeri, where most Maumau came from and their children’s children still live today. Kiambu I can see it happening, even Murang’a. I don’t even think a Kenyan from outside of Nyeri will get a stall. Those guys from Nyeri don’t play.
The stalls/spaces are too small / not functional for a market… The market will eventually spill into the the open spaces.
Hii project ningefanya na less than 100m…hii Kenya imemaliswa na tenderprenuers

Nimeona baze yangu ya kuwatch premier league whenever I go home. Karatina is a nice town. Quite inexpensive too. The food in that hotel is something else though, especially the sweet chips masala.
