Even though Mercedes hasn’t won a single race, they’ve been remarkably consistent in third place. If they solve the porpoising issue, which I suspect they will by mid-season, it will make things very interesting in the second half. Redbull and Ferrari thoroughly outpace Mercedes but they’ve also had several DNFs. Mercedes will be out of the championship but will be in a position to influence how it ends if their pace improves.
