Unlike kitambo when doctors graduating were few, manageable and very well trained, change happened. Interns per year then, were not more than 300.

Sahii even Mama Sarah Waithera University College Polytechnic of Agricultural Engineering (MSWUCPAE) offers medicine course. 3,000 quacks graduating per year and all of them want stipends of 200k per month.

Somehow true, I personally know a doc who scored C+ kcse. Akaenda to a certain private uni hapo dar, then akarudi. Ako in one of the the branches za a major hospital hapo utawala. Btw hio uni in dar, half the students ni Kenyans, it’s not cheap either.

KIBAKI messed big time tertiary institutions. Giving charter to every tom dick and hurry institution across the country had major draw backs. If you compare people who graduated from campus 20yrs ago and the recent graduates there is very big difference. Our education system is diluted.

Btw guys are you aware 80% of students doing medicine in UON are privately sponsored? Some very qualified bright student are denied the chance to be auctioned to to Private student which is a cash cow group.

Nowadays unlike before we have thousands of students graduating as Doctors, majority are surviving on lowcomes and others have resorted to engage in new career paths. Our education system require reset.

Government sponsored students A plain. For privately sponsored anything from B+. Private student used to pay as much as 500k per semester, so that’s 1M per Year. With the current review in tuition fee it should be more.

If you go to neighboring countries like Uganda and Tanzania you can train for medicine with anything from C+ in KCSE. That’s why we have so many graduating doctors nowadays.
