I once again want to remind you that the only way out is a Federal Republic of Kenya. There was a guy who was saying it only works for large countries even though Switzerland and Germany have it. He also cited Nigeria’s failure in Africa - but you see Nigeria’s journey into federalism was jeopardized by military coups which centralize power and by discovery of oil which pushed this further.
We need more money going to devolved governments. It needs to be set as a constitutional requirement. The 35% of BBI was a good start. A Country like Switzerland has 58% spending at local level. We also need to merge some of the counties to make them viable as revenue generating entities.
If this is not done you can be sure that we’ll have a civil war in Kenya - worse secessionism as the world gets tougher. I can see potentially NE wanting to merge with a stable Somalia. I can see people getting fed up by continuation of Kikuyu-Kalenjin domination of government - the next Raila (s) will be created from this narrative, they will use this manipulate people especially if it’s an outsider from the establishment. It’s going to resonate with the hungry masses (which will be like 70% of the population - Kikuyus and Kalenjin making up 30%). Young people are already disillusioned by the electoral process that Kibaki irreversibly undermined in 2007.
This is horse shit. Germany has a centuries old industrial advantage and experience while Switzerland is a small rich industrialised country in the heart of the world’s richest continent.
In contrast Kenya is a poor African country whose largest forex earning sectors are diaspora remittances, tourism, horticulture & NGO/diplomatic/international organisations.
Only countries with significant natural resources can afford to be successful federations. Poor federations are struggling; Brazil, Nigeria etc
Ebu tell us ni kabila ama county gani hizo that are feeling marginalized after using the allocated 35 % so prudently. Yani wanafeel like Kikuyus and Kalenjins controlling the government are holding them back…
Hahaha you’re basically just saying only white people can succeed? Brazil and Nigeria have significant Natural resources. Their mismanagement of the same is well known. It’s not too far back that people said Brazil under Lula was going to be the next big thing.
Ati Kenya is poor. Boss there was a time Japan couldn’t make a vehicle, same as Korea. And they did it. Again I will remind you that Africa has achieved nothing in growing food yields. Because the leadership of their centralized tribal governments do not think
Every single region in the periphery of Kenya is marginalized. Kalenjins get state subsidized agriculture and Kikuyus inherited the Colonial infrastructure. And no surprise that these two communities are the biggest voices against MAJIMBOISM in Kenya. They are the status quo after all.
