Ngare Ndare is a lush indigenous forest at the foothills of Mt. Kenya and one that belongs to UNESCO Heritage List. The Forest is known for its azure waterfall and rock pools, walking above the trees’ canopy and the presence of many elephants.

Itinerary

We start our journey in Nairobi at 6.00 AM in the morning and drive towards Timau. A brief stop at Nanyuki town to shop for snacks before proceeding to Ngare Ndare Forest.

On arrival take a walk through the forest in the company of an armed guide, Ngare Ndare Forest is a vital migration corridor for elephants migrating from Lewa Conservancy to Mt Kenya Forest and one they have been using for centuries.

The forest is the only indigenous forest in Kenya with an expanding canopy made up of indigenous trees like the African olive and Red Cedar trees believed to be more than 200 years old.

After the hike we take on the Canopy Walkway which is a 40 feet high aerial bridge of wire mesh and cables meandering through the tree canopy and extending 450 metres long.

We enjoy enjoy a picnic lunch ( Bring your own snacks), at the wooden platform deck before later proceeding to the waterfall. Here swimming and diving is allowed. We shall have a photo session at the breathtaking sceneries of the waterfalls.

We later leave for Nairobi.
