There was a thread on how the US is in her 21st year still fighting the Taliban.I congratulate kdf for taking note.
It cannot be by accident, kdf might be having some smart top brains, why, because as days go on,it seems the face of war against terrorism is changing in Somalia, the terrorist are being given a taste of their own medicine:anti alshabaab militias are being created.very little media coverage to avoid turning them into another alshabaab, possibility of them joining regional forces or federal govt forces as the end game.
Somalis should be left to continue fighting themselves for another 30 to 50 years.
When you see a snake inside a pit, you must never use your hand to pull it out. It will soon demand a taste of your blood.
Edit: Or even 200 years as @uwesmake has said!
Then later they will turn against the government… just like what usa did with Osama. He was an ally helping us fight soviets. When it was over he became the new enemy
This is what we need. Proxy toops from Doloow in the north to Ras Kamboni in the south. Locals, well funded, ruthless, supplied with intelligence and black market weapons.
They will act as a strike force under guidance of our special forces. We can substantially degrade AlShabab.
Sounds good but what happens after that? How do you demobilize these militias when AS is gone? Will they even want to put down the guns or will they have grown accustomed to the spoils of war? I fear we’re just creating new, more powerful enemies who will turn on us down the road using every trick we taught them. And with our brain dead GoK officials who can’t think beyond the next budget reading I doubt we will be prepared for that day. This experiment of ours with Jubaland will end in tears.
Burn these poppy plantation and the war ends on the spot. there’s $200million per year out of the poppies. Who wouldnt want to stay for 21years making easy money?

No way a Somali will risk his life to protect a foreign forces, they are only cooperating currently with Kenya because of money.
Once things start heating up kdf itawachwa wapigane peke yao
Boss you are very simplistic in your analysis. These proxy forces will be enabled to government the areas they displace Alshabab from. Some outstanding soldiers will become administrators, police chiefs, District Governors etc. They will also be given choice plots in the towns captured which will be resurveyed and plots allowed to collaborators.
Even in Afghanistan. The Northern Alliance that helped America oust the Taliban we’re given access to goodies. It is a well known playbook.
In Kenya the colonial chiefs and home guards were also rewarded with local assets and foreign education for their children.
The northern alliance which has evolved into the Afghan defense forces cannot survive against taliban without active NATO support in the air and on the ground.
Their fate is linked with continues NATO support and presence in Afghanistan.
Unless Kenya is planning to stay in Somalia forever, this project just like @BBI is waste of taxpayer money.
Kenyan soldiers run away the minute there is an attack. These scenarios you picture is too far of a reach for Kenyan soldiers. Don’t waste money acting like the U.S.
The Taliban had no immediate gains in achieving a final victory against the Northern Alliance.
The Taliban had conquered most of the territory and population centers. The war in the north had become a stalemate. Achieving the final victory with a major offensive would have cost a lot of lives and resources.
Just like there is no benefits in fighting al shabab in the areas it controls currently
