In the recent past, there are talkers who have been going gaga over the crazy rate of development in Ethiopia and their supposedly booming economy.
Ethiopians themselves don’t seem to share in that fantasy and are using very desperate measures to escape from the country. These 19 Ethiopians were discovered dead in Zambia from a container that was being used to smuggle them to South Africa.

The poor fellows were escaping their repressive dictatorship.
One or two glittering mega-project in distant Addis is not enough incentive to stay if you’re a young man living in abject rural poverty under the keen watch of secret informers. Successive brutal dictatorships have made Ethiopia a terrible place for young minds and souls.

In my view this wave of illegal migrants would soon be headed south if the situation in the country is not contained soon. All the Northern countries’ citizens are now engaged in this as a subsistence activity! Still not convinced that someone would want to run from his country only to end up in a shady country like South Africa that is racist against its own race! The conditions in such a country must be extremely repressive as stated… never been in Ethiopia though.

Recently I was watching aljazeera guys are dying of hunger ,yet the government is busy displacing farmers from fertile agricultural land at the expense of development while at it many ppl were detained and some were killed.

Why all the way to SA with all this neighbouring countries where you can hustle and make it. They can settle in kenya, tz or zambia. There must be someone or a group of ethiopians in SA benefiting with thos form of modern day slavely. They are promised heaven only to end up being slaves in SA. The situation in Ethiopia is worse than we thought.
