I don’t see any game coming out this year that will beat this game. First off, this game his HUUGE. There’s a tonne of places to explore and many many cliffs to fall off and die on, plenty of ruins, minor Erdtrees, caves, catacombs, graves, forts, etc. You will almost always find something to fight if you just walk in any direction.
Don’t let the difficulty scare you off. I think it is easier than other FromSoft games (Demon of Hatred flashbacks). This is mainly because if you go OCD and explore every single inch of the map, by the time you reach harder areas like the Consecrated Snowfield, you’ll be level 160+. And you have the option to summon spirit ashes to help in difficult areas/bosses.
If you haven’t tried this game, give it a chance. This is my favourite game of the year so far. And I don’t think anything is beating it. Not even God of War Ragnarök.
This game is awesome. Strength+intelligence build (darkmoon greatsword, hail Renna) playthrough was what really made me love this game. I want to max intelligence on one more str+int playthrough so I could finally cast the op stuff like meteorite of astel.
Then I got one more for faith + dex. It’s really insane how much gameplay you can get out of this game.
Give it a try. It’s not a huge time commitment as you might think. On my first playthrough I did like 3hrs in the evenings and more on Fridays and Saturdays. Compared to games like Yakuza, you’ll beat this multiple times before finishing those (experiencing all of the game areas/ challenges).
Does it have co-op? Bloodborne was hard for me but co-op really helped me through bosses. Without co-op I probably would have quit at Father Gascoigne.
Yes there’s coop. But I can’t tell you how to do it. I played the whole thing offline because ghosts of other players and messages were too distracting for me.
Waterfowl dance ash is attached to Malenia’s weapon. I didn’t like the weapon that much and scarlet aeonia requires faith. Can’t use it yet.
Anyway, there’s a talisman (can’t remember the name) that slightly refills FP when you do critical hits. So I just went around doing critical hits and earthshaker hehe.
@badworries I just finished my 4th playthrough and this time I tried to do as many side quests as possible and here FromSoft quest design falls apart. I think their design is OK for linear levels but on open world it just doesn’t work. There is no way I would complete most of these quests without looking them up online (Seluvis quest is BS). Either that or spend hours reading item descriptions and interpreting dialogue.
Their quest design works in previous games because eventually you’re going to meet the quest actors somewhere on a level -most of them is just dialogue and fetching items, after all. On Elden Ring the quest formula simply does not work. Hopefully their next game has better quests.
Anyways, great game but it’s time to move on. I usually never buy DLC’s instead wait for GOTY/Complete Edition on disk. So will probably check this game out again when that disk drops.
I think elden ring had better quest which make platinuming it fairly easy. Check other previous FS games, especially DS2. Sijawahi platinum hizo Bado.
Their next game will be dropping soon and also I’m waiting for the ER dlc
The main bigger quests like Ranni’s, Fia, Latenna and Gold Mask are Ok. I actually accidentally completed them on first playthrough by just exploring. But stuff like Seluvis… Find hidden chamber then ask him about it. Or Nepheli finding the Stormhawk ash, giving to her then going back to Stormveil and progressing time to noon else she stays at Roundtable… No chance I’d ever figure out that stuff.
Still my favourite game of the year. Spent a whole month playing nothing but Elden Ring.
