Tayyip Erdogan, the president of Turkey has described it as “economic warfare” against his country. The US President , Mr. dumb Donald Trump is penalising Turkish exports with exorbitant tariffs.
Even the American press is shocked. “The use of tariffs as a political weapon is a dangerous breach of international norms,” says the Washington Post.
Even the Neo-Con think tanks believe dumb Trump has gone too far.
“Geostrategically, it’s insanity, to act the way the Trump administration did", said the Council on Foreign Relations.
“This was an unprecedented hostile act against a NATO ally, timed to inflict maximum damage,” said Matthew Bryza, a former top US official responsible for Turkish issues at the National Security Council and State Department.
Turkey’s crime? The country arrested Andrew Craig Brunson, an American “pastor” on charges of terrorism. If he’s a pastor, then I’m father Christmas. He’s most likely a CIA agent stirring trouble in Syria.

Which brings us to the second point: Why is President Dumbass willing to risk America’s relationship with a strategic NATO ally over a “pastor”?
Well, you see, America is not rational at the moment. This was a country that put sanctions on tiny, impoverished Rwanda for daring to ban American mitumba. Yaani, wa Africa ng’ombe nyinyi, ni lazima muvae mitumba shenzi eno.

US President Donald Trump’s “America First” stance on global trade has hit Rwanda, by imposing tariffs on clothing exports from the tiny East African nation. The issue revolves around an obscure import, second-hand clothes, and Rwanda’s refusal to back down from the fight.
When did the dispute start?
In March 2018, the US gave Rwanda 60 days’ notice that it would be suspending the landlocked country from selling clothes to America duty free - a status it enjoys under the Africa Growth and Opportunity Act (Agoa).
Agoa is the flagship US trade legislation designed to boost trade and investment in qualifying African countries by granting duty-free access to 6,500 exported products.
"The president’s determinations underscore his commitment to enforcing our trade laws and ensuring fairness in our trade relationships," Deputy US Trade Representative CJ Mahoney said at the time.

But, but…wait! Si I thought mitumba ni charity? Benevolent jungus helping impoverished Africans with used clothes? Kumbe issa multi million dollar business??? Shock!
Anyway, I digress. back to Turkey. Like I said, America’s actions are not rational nowadays.
Here is president Erdogan of Turkey…
“We are preparing ourselves to make our trade with other countries like China, Russia, Qatar and Iran, with which we have the most trade volume through our national currency. If European countries also want to get rid of this dollar threat, we are also ready to do the same. We will never accept this system (US-led dollar-based monetary system) which has declared an economic warfare against the whole world and held countries to ransom by threats of sanctions.”
CONCLUSION
-
Trump the mega dumbass is shooting America in the foot. His divisive and inconsistent policies have already triggered shifting alliances, forcing Turkey to find new allies such as Russia and Iran to end the Syrian conflict and to stabilise Iraq.
-
Turkey will have some difficulties in the short-term and mid-term. But in the long-term, America will pay a price. Washington’s policies will force the whole world to join against it.
-
The idiot-in-Chief’s Trade Wars are forcing countries to seek alternatives to US suppliers and customers. These kind of financial wars will encourage them to seek alternatives to the dollar. In both cases, the result will be a less integrated world and diminished American influence.
