Earth Carrying Capacity

7.5 billion. The number of human beings (rough estimate) currently alive. Population is exploding exponentially, especially in developing nations. The earth’s carrying capacity is 10 billion people. Beyond this figure, food will become a major concern. It won’t take long before we hit that figure. In fact, it will be hit in our lifetime. What then? The only solution to increase the earth’s carrying capacity is to stop eating meat and people will never unanimously stop eating meat. How will 3000 be? My guess is that an extinction event will occur (probably a nuclear war), or people will downsize. I watched a movie called “downsizing” and although it is pure fiction, I found it very interesting from a scientific perspective. The thesis of the movie is that if people are able to downsize (shrink in mass either artificially or naturally), most pressures on food and other resources would vanish. It is fiction, but is it possible that as the earth’s carrying capacity limit approaches, the human race might adapt by downsizing naturally? Is it likely that if there is no extinction event in the next 1000 years, humans will be much smaller than they are today? Just a random thought on a boring Saturday afternoon. Sande.

Hmnn.
I’ll wait for Jeezus

Sources please.

Before we hit 10 billion, the machines will have taken over and food will not be our biggest problem.

Google. Plus hii sio dissertation.

10 billion ni kidogo sana, most populations are concentrated in cities and most land is underutilized outside the cities

@Couch waru kuja soma hii.

Why does every celebrity reach "enlightenment " and think they’re now scientists and superheroes here to save the earth? I don’t see any of them giving up their smart homes or private jets or helicopters as a start.

the question is are we past The Great Filter or is it in front of us, if we are past it then weel and good

The only solution would be for us to create artificial food as opposed to growing it or raising it. This article explains what I mean

Celebitches are hypocrites.
It makes no sense telling people to stop giving birth so as to protect the environment when you by yourself are consuming food and other resources equal to 1000 Africans.
The pound of beef he eats in every meal is equal to probably 3 acres of grass and hundreds of liters of water.
