On the positive side, atleast the Kenyan government is conforming with ICAO 2025 travel document requirements.
So this guys want every Kenyan abroad to travel home and replace their old passports with the new passport. Why cant the government have the initiative introduced in Kenyan missions? Why are people paying for replacement like a someone looking for a new passport? Why do they need a recommender again yet during the passport application recommender details were submitted? If all the process is online as claimed by the funny portal called e-citizen, why do one have to wait for atleast three weeks to get the e-passport?
We are a shithole country. If dispenses from Kenyans abroad is the highest foreign exchange earning to the government, why want everyone to travel home just apply for a passport? @Purple, et al, how long did it take to get the new passport? Should one risk a three week vacation for this?
I know visa free and visa on arrival countries will increase but why the hell do we have to travel home to change the passports? Don’t we have Kenyan embassies capable of doing it?
You realize that passports are a very delicate thing, the information contained therein is classified and confidential. As such, the control should be fully centralized.
Actually i applied for my bro studying abroad through the kenyan embassy and they sent back the old passport instead of the electronic one.
On inquiring they said that they have not started issuing e-passports to anyone outside of Kenya at the moment. That was not smart.
Crap, we are talking of people who already have passports and have registered themselves with the Kenyan embassies abroad. You do not need someone to come on person to renew their passport.
What we lack is know how to do things.
Ever had of finger print scanners, internet?
Embassies can collect all these data and transmit to Kenya.
As is I’m waiting for mine, it’s been three months so far, three months for a renewal, I just don’t have the energy to deal with the Kenyan system anymore.
I wouldn’t mind a different citizenship, I’m Kenyan because I have no choice.
