I created a thread about the struggle I have with the new technology in Agriculture. I have been having constant fights with my daughter regarding accepting advancement of AI in farms but a month ago, I was beaten 10-0.

I grew a substantial acreage of cane. I did everything right and then I got attacked by a fungus called rust. They do come when there is excessive rain.

  1. As you can see below, these are effects of rust on leaves. It’s a slow but dangerous disease because once it attacks the leaves, canes can no longer photosynthesise leading to poor nutrition and finally lower yields.

  1. I thought of spraying with a knapsack but based on the acreage I would need to employ 100 people to finish in 3 days. Also, there are many wild animals in there that can attack the sprayers. So my daughter signed a contract without my knowledge with a drone contractor sprayer.

  2. She bought 10 L of this fungicide at a cost of over 100k.

I did Touchdown and the farm is clean and clear.

OK, so he’s set to at least break even. From experience, I lost roughly an acre of beans to birds and excess rain, followed by weeds and pure bad luck. I’ve learned agriculture is a religious thing because the rain is still outside man’s control.

An acre can give you 60T if you do it right. A ton is bought at 5700 last i checked. So that’s 340k an acre. Cost ya an acre is always around 40k give and take . So acreage is the key…

I bought one for coffee 10L was 150k but could spray it for 3 years.
