Makerere University Bans Students, and Parents from Carrying Cellphones to Graduation Ceremony

[I]Graduands and parents attending the 73rd Makerere University graduation have been prohibited from carrying cellphones
and cameras In other words, those looking to take selfies or go live on social media will have to hold on and do that when
they go back home
Canned foods, drinks, and backpacks are also banned from the ceremony in which graduands are only allowed two guests
Graduation will run for 5 days The five-day event, which is the university’s 73rd graduation ceremony, is set to start today and run through to Friday.
Official records show that 13,221 graduands will graduate from the institution, out of which 6,809 (52 percent) are female and 6,412 (48 percent) are male.
From the figure above, 102 are Ph.D. students, 1,378 are master’s students, 108 graduate with postgraduate diplomas and 35 are undergraduate diplomas. [/I]
