I have been a smoker for 15 years. The last 8 years being a pack a day which could go to two when I would be drinking alcohol. I always wanted to quit esp when those selling me cigs would tell me…hey ushamaliza hio…unavuta sigara mingi!!! I did quit 3 months ago…the first three weeks…oh my were just crazy but now it got easier with time and I even go a whole day without thinking of a cig…I dont even mentally count the days I have been smokefree like I used to in my first days. My qiestion is about the healing process…how come I have never experienced those symptoms people say eg coughing, black mucous, lack of sleep…infact I sleep so much. I have added weight tho and this has made my BP increase. Am now worried. I was quitting to get healthy but its like am getting obese with BP. Help
Dont Panic…I most certainly think, if u quit something u were addicted to…Yes its for a greater and better health but again your body has to go through some changes to adopt to a new you…Try and Exercise Man…Jogging short distances , taking stairs but make sure the distance you do is increased weekly…ata ka ni 100m…MY THINKING PLEASE…HOPE YOU GET SOMEONE WITH A BETTER SOLUTION TO THIS…
mistake number 1
following your bodies desires, making it a chimney
Congratulations on your decision to quit smoking and actually doing it. Please share some tips on how to do it with our very own @pamba.
There’s one misconception I’d like to correct here: when it is said that a particular drug has some listed side effects it doesn’t mean that every single patient who uses it will experience every single one of the adverse events listed. Similarly, when it is said you’ll experience some given withdrawal symptoms on cessation of smoking, it doesn’t mean that you MUST experience every single one of them or that everyone who quits will experience every single one of them. Our internal bodies’ processes are as different as our appearances are.
Secondly, nicotine usually speeds up your metabolism hence the reason (partly) for weight gain on cessation of smoking. It’s now time to turn your attention to the other risk factors: poor diet and sedentary lifestyle.
