It makes you a parent. The issue of maturity and wisdom depends on genetics, upbringing, the company you keep, principles you abide by and the life you have decided you want to lead.
Otherwise, how do you explain men and women who abandon families, get drunk overnight, rape their daughters, kill their wives and children, are excessively promiscuous, bring up brats…?
