Documentaries on Genocide

i was in Kigali over the weekend and got to go to the Genocide Memorial. I learnt a lot, even stuff I never knew and the ruthlessness and barbarism exhibited by those guys. Its a humbling and thought-provoking experience.

Im looking for documentaries about other genocides that happened through history. Anyone got any links or suggestions to what to look for? Something properly researched that can give a proper accounting. Hence my asking here before going to google which might return some less than impressive results.
I prefer to watch documentaries then go back to read about them then the other way round.

For Rwandan Genocide, try to search for a documentary called “Ghosts of Rwanda”. The most chilling story and how the West (Clinton Regime) turned a blind eye.

I had one on rwanda genocide…that one even had real footage of the acts being committed and all that shit, not just narration. unfortunately the name evades me!

Yes that is the one. Get that one.

We are very quick to blame to blame the US coz they are a superpower. But in Rwanda’s case the most complicit people were the Belgians who started all the hate and the French who sold arms to the Interhamwe, trained them and created safe zones for them to escape to when the RPF fought back…

Any other recommendations on other genocides like the Armenian or Serbian genocides?

The main reason why the West [UN] is to blame is because they took time to rule out that it was GENOCIDE building up in Rwanda.

Rwanda’s Population today is 12 Million people
In 1994, when the genocide happened, Rwanda had a population of 6 million people
Tutsis were 14% of the population at that time (840,000)
Twa Pygmies were 1 % (60,000)
Hutus were 85 % (5,100,000)

840,000 - 60,000 = 780,000

Death Toll
An estimate 800,000 people were killed
They say 70% (588,000) of the Tutsis were killed (remaining 252,000)

Batwa, 30% (18,000)was killed
With these numbers, it means 194,000 hutus were killed. The Number of Hutus who were killed in the Aftermath of the Genocide in Rwanda, South Kivu and other Areas of the DRC is more than 1 million.

Not speculating but the truth of the matter is, History favors those who write it.

It’s a ferked up situation. Am sure the Rwandese look at us the way we like to play around with ethnic machinations and just feel pity.

Ghosts of Rwanda is good but it doesn’t really tell you the cause of that war. There is a cause to the war that started several decades before. The war only happened because situations went unchecked.

but where was africa through all this? Uncle Sam doesn’t care when africans fukc each other up,diseased or dying of hunger.ni uafrika na ujinga ndio imejaa na serikali zetu.no one gives two shits about their neighbours either, yet we are quick to blame the muzungu fo turning a blind eye

These people had fought each other for decades. When the colonialists left , they left (intentionally) the Tutsis in power. That was the last sequence that culminated to the war.

Am glad we have those two options. I’ll be watching instead. For the second time. Its good when you need to cool down some tempers that sometimes flare inside you against “imaginary enemies”. You get to look at life from side B : What if I did what I thou
