Do you have an idle land in mashinani?

So you plant trees at 0.5m gap and hold for 10 years?More like 5m.

No. During planting it’s 1x1metres. At 10 Years the gap will narrow down to 0.5ms.
The trees will have a radius 0.25ms on either side at 10 Years

  1. As someone has said, not possible to plant 4,000 trees on an acre. Maybe 2,000 to get healthy trees worth selling at a good price. That 1 x 1 metre is textbook advice. On the ground you need to space them much more for them to expand.
  2. You must get the right variety. Some unscrupulous sellers sell the weak variety that does not produce poles.
  3. KPLC is your main market. They had gone to concrete poles and even the recent reversal to wooden poles is deemed to be political for some big shots to sell their trees (read Konyagi 1 family). You don’t know what the policy will be in 10 years. That leaves you at the mercy of middlemen.

In my area everyone planted Eucalyptus, market is now flooded.

“The development is good news to Eucalyptus farmers who have incurred losses running into millions of shillings over the years after Kenya Power and the Rural Electrification Authority scaled down demand for wooden poles to reverse deforestation trends.”

Exactly what I stated above… :stuck_out_tongue:
