Dim Eye are currently the best musicians

Ohangla has since dethroned Mugithi (GEMA) and Benga music ( Kambas and Kisiis). These njaruos are on to something. Their composition is better, instruments, setting etc is relatively better. Ohangla can easily pull an international audience unlike, say, Benga music. Two issues have been suppressing Benga and Mugithi. One, the guitar imepitwa na wakati. Secondly and a more sensitive issue, illiteracy. Ohangla musicians tend to be more educated than their Kamba and Shiny eye counterparts. I know, I have met tens of both sides in studios. But I guess this was bound to happen. The Luos introduced the Latin tune to Kenya from DRC which was quickly picked by Kisiis and later Kyuks. Remember Kundi 1. Kambas copied from Kyuks but “customised” in line with the fast-paced pop like tune (Kumbuka Wenge musica tune). Katitu is “credited” for “destroying” Kamba music. Luos later dropped Kundi and much much later embraced Ohangla. Kambas and Kyuk need to work harder. I stand corrected

Marvelous analysis.

It’s true, Luos are the most fantastic poets.

To prove my point, I wrote a Luo song dedicated to my wife, Mrs. @TrumanCapote. The poem is titled - Kapoti

@patco ,you need to Check in into a mental facility

Kweli, to my extended family i seems though i dislike my Kiuk culture when i tell them 10/10 Ohangala is the best traditional music around. However there are a few unconventional Kikuyu artist who could be onto something.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=52hM4h1VfDI;list=PLa_MJXOtcU5Ywgz43XEvvWq5cPOI5grXf

Weka samples za ohangla, @ChifuMbitika anajua tu Ile moja ya “ndoa ya machos”.

Shortly

True. Younger kikuyu musicians are becoming innovative but if you listen “musically” they are re-inventing mwomboko. Well and good, but more is needed. Hawa wajaluo soon wataamza kuimba mugithi

Peter pieko pier paka, paka pieko pier Peter

Why are Kikuyu musicians more popular than Jaruo ones countrywide?

Population ya target audience.

Njaruo zinajua kuimba thats undisputed… Hizi zingine is like drinking a cold cup of porridge

Olund meru

I don’t think that is true.
The appeal of Luo ones seem to cut across the tribes. A typical club anywhere from the rift valley all through to gusiiland comfortably plays ohangla songs and the musicians get very productive gigs too.
Also about songs that can be sung by almost anyone in any corner of the country. Like kanungo? Or chuado gi nyundo? Or even to move away from ohangla, what about unbwogable?

Those guys can really sing.

Mi huskia tu samidoh samidoh… I dont even know a song by samidoh

Utakuwa aje kama huskizangi luo songs. Sema Samido but sio Kikuyu musicians. Kwanza Samido ameimba wimbo gani?

:D:D hapa tuko wengi.

Sawa Jaruo jeuri

I am dead now
