Digress

This word is normally used by many in meetings I attend.
I have never used it and I keep wondering in what context of a conversation it should come in.
Please help,I would like to use it going forward…Sounds cool.

on the other hand people should stop using these words “as in”
I dislike its users

to digress is to go off on a tangent - to deviate from the main path.

when you deviate from the main theme of a discussion, you are digressing. One of the reasons why a speaker may say “I digress” is to “check himself”.

To digress is to deviate from the topic at hand. Use in a sentence: “Today we are discussing the GDP growth but I wish to digress and talk some politics”.
