Devolution If Well Managed Can Leapfrog Kenya On All Sectors

HEALTH

We have 47 counties, each county should have a Specialty Hospital e.g Kaimbu hospital can specialize with Cancer, Eldoret Hosptal specialize with Renal etc that way we will minize trips to India

MANUFACTURING

1 County 1 product was good on paper. This would transform Kenya and save the scarce dollars used in imports.

AGRICULTURE

Farming and Agro Industries have the capacity to absorb ALL jobless Kenyans. Take for example Cattle rearing, this sectors employs feed manufacturers, farmhands, Chuff cutter makers, Veterinary officers and so on. The same case foe chicken, pigs, maize, vegetable, Agro Chemicals, Irrigation equipment, Bio gas, Solar

Each tribe should form their own country. Nairobi iuzwe alafu kila tribe ipewe their share wajenge their new countries.

I don’t think kuna sector ingine kubwa kuliko Agriculture if exploited to the fullest. In Agriculture there is IT, Biotech, Energy, Machinery, Tourism, Casual labour, food processing name it.

Cottage industries in small scale. Most people will think about joining a chama and starting nail manufacturing or wire mesh equipment but I am talking about home based cottage industries. This then will be joined in groups for marketing and standardization. Say dairy farmers in kangema to make cheese, the cheese is collected at a sub-county level by an agricultural officer who checks for standards and labels the product Now the county can market, Murang’a cheese, give it a good name, praise the natural scenes near the abardares as why the cheese has that sought after flavor, etc etc (Grain fed beef/grass fed and other advertising gimmick come to mind here), minus the costs, the farmers will earn 3 times what they earn from selling milk.
We can have ghee from Kilifi south, etc

Devolution in our current form is a disaster. Wage bill alone for both levels of government is 1 trillion and keeps rising. Counties should be self reliant without asking for revenues from government. The current debt issues we face as a country is a result of devolved units that cannot even raise enough money to pay their staff!
