Democracy and its down sides

I have seen many people here shouting about I don’t know the value of western democracy and how it is necessity to make a country advanced. This reminds me of 2010 when i was still a high school student then excited about our new constitution; with every information from our politicians and western nations, about how our country will become developed, the government will be very effective, corruption will just fizzle out and how the Judiciiary will be effective and served justice. 10 years down the line (we want to change again to constitution to sort these problems using the so called BBI cause some stupid people believe BBI will cure them), yet we are in worst state than before, corruption is very rampant in public and private sector, our judiciary is very inept, there is no any major progress in terms of human development as many people are still in poverty, living in slums, many jobless youths, the so called freedom of media has achieved only one thing politics politics only in the private run media stations, the social media is full of tribal hatred and venom. Ethnic radio stations are also spreading tribal venom. One thing I have come to realize and i will always stand with, is that the SYSTEM of government does not matter that much as it is actually made to look. What matters a lot is the citizenry and by extension the leaders who govern the country. Just look at America, people call it a democracy to emulate, but it elected a racist clown to be a president and will be likely re elected. What is the reason? because democracy is based on populism (because leaders are elected by the citizens). The people who can argue and shout the most and even move emotions get to be leaders regardless of whether they are competent or not. Back to Kenya, Sonko, Waititu and Joho managed to be leaders because the citizens chose them despite them being utterly incompetent. Everyone right now agrees Uhuru is incompetent but if he decides to mobilize his ethnic community again, he might end up being an executive prime minister in 2022 because his tribe will vote for him. The reason why the country is going to the dogs is because of clueless citizens who are not seeing these things and incompetent and selfish politicians who, instead of providing leadership motivated by patriotism for the sake of their country are taking advantage of the situation. THUS in conclusion whether we change the Constitution to whatever, having a queen, parliamentary, presidential, autocratic with our same leaders to implement these laws and the same citizens to vote them in Kenya will still remain a hell hole.

COMMERCE rules the world

Nimewachia racist clown. Just another ktalk liberal in disguise.

And if you had gone to highschool in saaaay… from betwen 1970 to 1999… you would know why this katiba was necessary. Why multiparty was necessary. Why democracy was necessary.

Unfortunately you do not know. And you are lucky you did not have to live through the Kenyatta or Nyayo era.

And if you had gone to highschool in that era above you would also know of a famous “Lagat” who fought for that katiba and paid dearly : Philomena Chelagat Mutai .

The changes we have made in governance in the past are very vital. What we lack are honest and selfless leaders to help move the country forward.

sijasoma hio post yako but i agree , democracy is bullsh** . A famous greek philosopher said the same sh*t and gave a very good reason as to why only a few pple should be allowed to vote coz choosing leaders is a matter of life & death…

The citizens embrace and celebrate mediocrity. So the constitution made administrative changes. It plugged many holes. Unfortunately the mentality of the citizens remains the same. Backward. It’s like giving a 5 year old kid a Ti-92 calculator. He will have no clue what to do with it. I always say the difference between a 1st world country and a 3rd world country is the mentality of its citizens. Many 1st world nations were 1st world right from inception. Forget that “ we are a young nation “ bullshit @langatkipro .

It is rude awakening. I used to hear tano tena alafu arudishe mkono, even the ones who used to accuse others of being greedy for power are now exhibiting the same symptoms. Power corrupts, even God wont let Satan anywhere near power.
