Debunking The Jaba Myth Of Mercedes Hukunywa Sana

I don’t know who came up with this bullshiet that Mercedes, BMW, Audi and any other expensive make of a car consumes more fuel.

This myth was partly true siku za carburetor engines but siku hizi some cheap Toyotas and Nissans consume more fuel per KM than the feared German machines.

As for the claimed fuel efficiency, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class base Petrol engine returns 14 Km/l, whereas the base diesel returns 12 Km/l. The Toyota Corolla base Petrol returns 17 Km/l, whereas its base Diesel counterpart gives 21 Km/l of fuel efficiency. I drive a Merc, C250, 2014 and the tradeoff is in higher fuel consumption, this vis a vis the luxury gadgets you get to play arond with as compared to Toyo. Other than that, Go argue with your Grand mother.

German cars are just heavier and have bigger engine displacements. They have more suspension stuff, larger transmissions with more gears, rear wheel dive set ups, additional metal bars about the car, all which translate to more baggage.

:D:D:D:D:D… rumour s tu za base ya jaba,an average C200 itakunywa tu kama an equivalent premio or Nissan sylpy

Really what are you comparing. Mercedes are either 6+ cylinder or 4 cylinder with a turbo. So they will consume more fuel than your 4 cylinder Japanese cars. More over, Mercedes’ do not design their vehicles with fuel efficiency as a premium. The owners are assumed to have deeper pockets.

first, why are you bundling cars with a toy?

Stick to bonobo stories.

It could be true. But remember it also depends on the heaviness of your shoes.

At say 120km/h, most Toyotas (say premio) might consume the same at the same speed or more than a Mercedes C180. Optimum engine performance also matters. At lower speeds the premio will be more economical fuel wise. But when you speed up, the Benz might be more economical as the premio will probably be redlining kwa revs

How many times are you at 120km/hr? What you are detailing here are exceptions.

I have owned them and those toyota vehicles lack enough gears. you cannot argue that. the old premio had four gears and seriously lacking at the very bottom and at the top. the cvt one is worse and will start sluggishly, perform well at around 50-80kmph, and beyond 100 you will be redlining the engine. You try to get a little speed out of them especially when loaded you will get 9km/l. Toyota opted for cvt rather than improve to a six or an eight speed.

Why buy a Mercedes and still look your fuel gauge or even worry about fuel prices? If that is you, buy Toyota.

Unless you are using it for bizness or commercial purposes. the difference is not that big for normal daily use.

Wacha ujinga. Kuna place taxi in Mercedes.

Buda acha kutu enjoy. Mara ya mwisho uliona corolla ya diesel lini???. Fuel consumption is not dependent on make/model but engine size, body size, tuning and driving style. Ok which models are we comparing with. Merc S650 vs T/Passo KGC30 1L?We cant say just Mercedes. We have class A, B, C, E, S, ML etc. We also have different other models each with specific challenges. Its also better to compare vehicles of the same size. Smaller Benzes are not thirstier but maybe what people fear is the high prices for cars and spares, though the spares are more durable too. For the common C180/C200…fuel consumption is good. Remember they downscaled their engines to 1.8L with kompressor( german word for supercharger) then in 2010, they again replaced the kompressor with Turbo(CGI)which offers better fuel perfomance since turbos are driven by exhaust gases unlike the former which is powered by engine.

Bottomline…its not the car, but the engine model/size vs car weight.
If looking for a small car but a guzzler, then look for Mark x, Teana/Fuga/Skyline, Camry etc.
