Damn. Lethal injection drug sellers have declined to offer their drugs to kill inmates.
Getting shot while you’re expecting it seems more envigorating, rather than intimidating. You get to go out yelling curses at the world in a blaze of defiance. Being injected is too passive, low key and helpless.
Companies who produce the cocktail of drugs used in the lethal injection have declined to sell it for that purpose. I believe this is North Carolina but may end up becoming the trend, the last such execution was in 2011,actually the constitutional method is the electric chair but the inmate is given an option of firing squad. The fact that this is unconstitutional could be challenged by human rights groups in spite of the inmate choosing firing squad instead of the electric chair.
The problem with the firing squad is it’s a messy job, what with the cleaning up. They sort of share some psychological burden too, since it’s several guns that must be fired, and it’s an active, sharply keen, and focused–but noisy–task. I imagine anyone participating would remember all the little details, unlike flicking on a switch for the electric chair, or administering an injection as doctors do every day–only that you’d know you’re sending someone to eternal sleep.

@Truman Capote:
My proven credentials as a Civil Libertarian (… seeking to maximize autonomy and political freedom, and minimize the state ; emphasizing free association, freedom of choice, individualism and voluntary association …) and my avowed opposition to Capital “Punishment” in GENERAL ( … It is actually Capital Murder … you do not punish a person by killing them … Death is absolute …) …
I have weighed in here on several occasions on this highly emotive matter …
While in Med School , I participated in highly charged Discussions and Ethics Seminars on whether Medical personel should ever participate in these backward medieval practices which , on many occasions , even victimize the wrong individual … ( …As you know , the practice in some States is for Medics to administer the Lethal Injections , Supervise and certify Death after the process …).
The question remains then …
How do we deal with the Hitler’s , Saddam Hussein’s , Al Shabaab’s and Putin’s of this world (…and those of a similar ilk who make it their business to destroy and take innocent lives …)…???
Do such rabid individuals deserve “Due Process” or waste legal time and resources in Investigations , Prosecutions and Incarceration …???
In short , should a Peaceful , Law abiding world tolerate the activities of these vermin and villains or deal with them the same way we deal with infestations of Pests and allied vermin …???
(… a bullet in the back of the head …)

Toa Maoni …
Actually it is quite simple and efficient …
A 9mm Pistol with a silencer just makes a poping sound and the blindfolded target would not even know what hit them …

Haya ni maoni, the legalities are something else. In my view, the difficult matter is in proving guilt. Once that is out of the way, I wouldn’t be remorseful if murderers are wiped off the face of the earth. Afterall, everyone has a nature-given (I’d say God given) right to live. But the way I see it is if you go out of your way to kill someone who has done you no harm, then you forfeit that right because there is nothing that can replace life. Maisha si una yako?
However, I think one is justified to defend their own life and if in the process the attacker dies, the killer should be freed. Do you imagine I’d hesitate to kill you if you pulled a knife or gun against me or my family, and I knew you’d kill me if I didn’t kill you first? You’d be taking a terrible gamble.
In cases where a person becomes a danger to the public, I think there is a collective duty to execute him/her. The Creator (or whatever you think gives us life) obviously expects us to guard it jealously. Anyone who is trying to kill you by whatever means, is your enemy, that is my opinion.
Venye pia wewe utachagua the mode of penetration by Enigma.Slooooooooooooooowly or harder. The choice is yours, choose wisely.
The Bible approves of capital punishment. At least in the old testament and I am a Christian first. In campus psychology unit in my first year we all did a presentation and term paper on moral/ethical dilemmas.
Euthanasia, abortion, capital punishment, stem cell research, cloning, IVF among others.
Now my good professor a very tall elderly American with a very short wife, on his sabbatical taught us that there are usually 4 conflicting ideologies when we are faced with a moral or ethical dilemma.
1)Long term vs short term aka instant gratification vs delayed gratification.
2)What is good for the individual vs what is good for the community
3)Justice vs Mercy
And finally
- Truth vs Loyalty
Now in capital punishment we are dealing with Justice or retributive justice bcz theres many types of justice such as the restorative justice in truth, justice and reconciliation commissions done in South Africa and Rwanda at village level. The gacaca courts.
Now let’s not mix issues by bringing Hitler and Putin into the picture. Even in the Hague war crimes or crimes against humanity do not warrant the death sentence… I think. Was bemba sentenced to death or Charles brown?
What we are discussing here is state sanctioned execution as a means to maintain law and order. The three penological objectives of capital punishment are 1) To act as a general deterrent that death penalty deters criminal behaviour more than imprisonment 2)To act as a specific deterrent to stop the perpetrators from ever being able to commit the crimes again for example killing fellow inmates or correctional officers and other staff whom they interact with such as teachers, medics, counselors, outreach groups, clergy etc.
3)To offer retributive justice to the victims of the crime, the community and the state as well bcz murder is a crime against the state.
A little known rationale is the purgative rationale which says that the continued existence of extreme criminals in any group or community including prison defiles them. So the inmate must be purged to avoid spoiling the others around him.
In the US I believe murder in the first degree as well as being an accessory or aiding and abetting can lead to a death sentence as requested by the prosecution and then agreed upon by all 12 members of a jury of your peers upon adduced evidence and deliberations. Some Asian countries have capital punishment for trafficking, corruption, espionage, treason etc.
Now research clearly shows that capital punishment does not work as a deterrent bcz by the time a person is about to commit a premeditated murder and has the mens rea they are clearly not thinking very clearly about the consequences. Drug trafficking is still as high if not higher in countries with death penalty for drug trafficking as it drives the demand for and cost of the drugs up.
Now the part of justice for the victims of the crime and their families is not yet clearly researched and established. Most say they feel that they feel some relief that their kins murderer was executed some end up feeling worse about it.
We must admit that some crimes are so heinous and vicious especially serial killers that even keeping the perpetrators in the general prison population is endangering to the lives of other inmates. They are unrehabilitatable by the corrections department and systems.
On average a death row inmate spends 20 years on death row before they are actually executed meaning that government does follow due process and offer enough opportunities for appeals and all means available to save the inmates life. Of course all human life is sacrosanct but what about justice and elimination of those who can not live in an orderly society bcz of psychopathy as in serial killers or extremely torture and cruel means of killing. Those who kill vulnerable members of the society like the disabled, the elderly, children and women?
Of course we know that the break down of the fabric of the family unit, extreme poverty, violent and negligent upbringing, child abuse, the proliferation of drugs and guns are root causes of crime and so capital punishment has been proven not to control crime in any shape or form as is often cited by its proponents.
Akili yako imeoza kushinda ya @Tauren
You seem to enjoy this thoroughly. When you’ll be caught with some bibi ya jitu the decision won’t be academic. Your mind and feet had better be swift, or you’ll be the one getting murdered:D
thread too long. Not gonna bother reading it especially seeing its been penned by this idiot @Lionheart, who cleans @TrumanCapote’s ass with his tongue.
You’ll find him kwa thread za wamama daily. He loves engaging hawa malaya wa london.
Seems to me you would really enjoy that eventuality …
But rest assured , all my bases are properly covered … :D:D
Hehe, just warning a friend. Your early demise, whether painful or peaceful, would do absolutely nothing for me. Only remember that no man exists that’s angrier and more spiteful than a cuckold:D
On that we are agreed …
But the Law is often an Ass …
- Far too many mass murderers ( .. like Putin ..) get away with mass murderers under cover of executive privilege.
- Far too many innocents have sadly lost their lives thru the unfair or biased application of Capital Punishment …
- Holding anyone in Death Row for 20 years and then finally Excecuting them is Cruel and Unusual Punishment …
I support the Death Penalty for certain Individuals and heinous Crimes but :-
- The Trial Process must speedy and Fair.
- The burden of proof must be on the accuser and beyond doubt.
- A single bullet to thru the head ( …or the option of a self administered Cyanide Pill would satisfy me as not being unnecessarily cruel or unusual ..).
I have no sympathy for anyone who cannot handle their business but feels agrieved when a partner seeks alternatives …
To qualify as a person of interest to me , one must be :-
- Bootylicious , Mature and Discreet in demeanor.
- Clearly defined and Symbiotic Rules of Engagement for the purpose of only satisfying Bodily urges ( … I am not looking for a Wife …:D:D).
- No regular physical or phone contact permitted …a cheap basic phone located in my surgery is the only mode of communication.
- Locations for liasons must neutral and secure ( … no lodgings or back seats of vehicles …).
Playgrounds are physically distant from prying eyes of friends , relatives or informants.
Actually Humans rights groups do not have rights in the case to mount a constitutional challenge. They are not party to the case. You are also talking about human rights- the convict has made a choice, then you are challenging his choice? How can a humans right group challenge a choice you have made out of your given right? I also don’t understand when you say constitutional method is electric chair and then you say it’s unconstitutional. Which is which?
Why are you trying to hide? Do you seriously believe in this Nairobi nobody knows what you do? Nairobi is a very small town size wise.
