Crime and Traumatic Childhood/Broken Homes

Many people think that the old fashioned one man one woman marriage is just another option but studies into background of criminals shows a clear correlation between coming from a broken home, single parent home or step family home. Kids need 3 things love, leadership and purpose. When they dont have these three theyre the easiest people to recruit and influence into crime, cults, gangs and violent extremist groups and thats why they target young people who are lost.

Let’s start with the most recent Kenyan criminals

1)Salim Gichunge -Terrorist

Gichunge’s dad a meru left his mom a Nubian while Gichunge and his sisters were young ,the mom was out busy fending for the family and she had no time to be with her kids, still her kids including Gichunge did well in school , however as with kids with absentee parents they each took their own path.Even when Gichunge went to Somalia and became radicalised everybody was too busy to notice there was a change in Gichunge. Gichunge was so desperate for belonging and identity that he who was a straight boy joined a phone snatching gang when he lived in Majengo Nyeri,he however had to leave after Hessy put the gang on his wanted list. Gichunge felt hopeless and powerless and unloved and abandoned by his dad. Once he borowed 10k from his boss saying he had no means to find such money. When Gichunge was radicalised online he begun to feel a sense of belonging and purpose. When he went to train in Somalia , the bosses there noticed his weakness and quickly made him a boss over new recruits to gauge their loyalty , he felt more powerful than he had ever felt his entire life and as a result became very loyal to the terror group.

 1. Violet Kemunto/Khadija Omoyo - Terrorist

Kemuntos biological dad was dumped by her mom after drinking became too much, shortly after he died and Kemuntos mum married a moslem man, Kemunto and her sisters then took to their step dad like fish to water and converted to Islam. This man who Kemunto had considered a dad and an anchor in their previously chaotic family life died shortly after and then the mom married another man who would travel alot. In the midst of all this change of father figure and unavailability of father figure, Kemunto turned to Sponsors and being a party animal yet Kemunto had commitment phobia and could not settle in relationship. When she met Gichunge she met her soulmate, a male mirror of her inner needs .They both were craving stable family and strong stable father figure.Needless to say Alshabab became the idealised elusive father figure for both and for a moment there two kids with no money,no family stability and no love in their lives were in heaven. They had it all. Money, family, a powerful father figure who provided and gave direction and belonging and purpose to their lives . It was a dream come true. Unfortunately that father figure was a monster that led them to kill 21 people. Still it met their needs.

 1. Mahir Khalid Rizik -Suicide Bomber

Mahir like many youths in Majengo slums was raised by single mothers. He had no father figure in his life and so joined a radicalising imam the late aboud rogo who offered him and other moslem boys a sense of manhood, direction and belonging unlike his peers most of who turn to drugs ,crime and prostitution to support their drug habit. After the Imam was assasinated Mahir was broken and was deeply angered , he became radicalised further by Ramadhan Hamisi Kufungwa who recruited him to Alshabab terror group. He was first assigned to kill police as they had disrespected the Masjid Musa mosque and suspected to have killed Makaburi and Rogo both who were vocal fundamentalist preachers who often encouraged ‘baru baru’ or young men and boys to become radicalised as Mujahidin. Khalid was the easiest person to shape into a suicide bomber. He had nothing to live for, having killed a police officer in Mombasa he would be a fugitive forever . If the story that Alshabab gives 300k to families of suicide bombers then that would make the best sense since he had no way to provide for his family and was now a wanted criminal by his home country. Alshabab indoctrinated potential suicide bombers with the notion of wonderful rewards after death for those who sacrifice their lives for their religion. That plus the money his family would get was too tempting an offer to decline . However even moments before his suicide. Mahir was deeply distressed by what he was about to do as witnessed by a salon he approached angrily for a haircut and the last man who heard him speak on phone , during his time on the run he constantly kept in touch with his family, as with many people who lack a good family life growing up, theyre really concerned with protecting their own family from the pain they themselves went through.

 1. Adolf Hitler - German Dictator who started Holocaust that led to the genocide of 6 Million Jews

He was born to Alois and Klara Hitler. Adolf had five siblings, but only one lived past childhood:
[li]Gustav died at the age of two in 1887[/li][li]Ida died at the age of two in 1888[/li][li]Otto died within a year of birth in 1887[/li][li]Edmund died at the age of six in 1900[/li][li]His sister, Paul, was born in 1896 and lived until 1960[/li][/ul]
Alois was an Austrian customs official and he was able to provide his family with a comfortable lifestyle; however, he and his son did not get along. Alois had a terrible temper and had a general bad attitude. He was obnoxious and conceited, and he often took his problems out on his children.
His wife was the complete opposite from him, but she had virtually no power in the household. Coupled with the fact that women did not have much power to begin with, she was dealinamg with an aggressive and dominating husband.

Between the ages of six and eight, Adolf attended two different schools based upon where his family was living. He was rewarded and praised by his teachers for constantly having high marks and for acting properly in class.
The family moved around frequently, thanks to Alois’ job. However, they eventually settled in Linz when Adolf was nine years old. He frequently referred to Linz as his actual home throughout his life.
Once they moved to Linz, Adolf continued with elementary school. He quickly became the center of his group of friends and would often be the one leading them in games.
Changes in Adolph Hitler’s Life
Once he was finished with primary school, his father enrolled him in the Realschule which focused more on matters such as science and technology than a traditional curriculum. He did not enjoy his time there and made it known throughout his life. Although he had received stellar marks when he was younger, he wound up having to repeat a semester at this new school. His grades were never stellar again and bounced back and forth between poor and average for the remainder of his days there.
When he was 16 years old in 1905, he was no longer required to attend school. Of course, he had the option to go on to receive a higher education; but, he decided that he was done with schooling forever.
Adolf Hitler’s childhood losses could have played a role in his later personality and style. He suffered quite a number of losses before his death. As we mentioned, four of his five siblings did not live past their childhood, although the majority of them died before he was even born. At the age of 14, his father Alois passed away.
On December 21, 1907, one of the greatest losses that Hitler felt in his life was the death of his mother to breast cancer.

 1. Jeffery Dahmler - Serial Killer and necrophiliac who killed and preserved and cannibalised the bodies of 17 men

Dahmler began to have desire to abuse and kill animals after his parents who fought all the time finally divorced. Things got worse when his father remarried and had another son, during which time Dahmer became a loner and began to drink heavily, during his teen years he was abandoned by both his mother who had mental health issues that were exacerbated by the divorce and his father forgot Jeff and focused on his new family. During this time he became more and more obsessed with the desire to kill a man, his classmates claim that he would down a pack of alcohol by 9 am in the morning. During the turmoil at home before this he focused on dissecting animals and preserving their remains. It was during his time alone in his family home that his desire for violence with sexual experience got the better of him and he killed some man he had given a ride in his family home, however because he was inebriated he couldnt recall what happened he only remembered giving the man a ride in his parents car. When his father realised that the son was abusing alcohol at home alone, he sent him to live with his grandmom, there he would go to gay clubs and drug men he desired and rape them while they were unconscious until he was bursted and thrown out. After that he moved into his own place, lost contact with his family and killed and mummified 17 men in his house until a black male prostitute who escaped reported him to police .Later on when asked why he would kill and mummify men before having sex with them he said that was the only way he could be sure that they would never leave him, like his parents did.
