Kenya Kwanza Alliance rally in Nakuru County on Friday, February 11, was marred with confusion after Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula mistakenly campaigned for Azimio la Umoja.

Wetangula, who was in the company of Deputy President Willian Ruto and Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi immediately realized that he had blundered and rectified his mistake.

The incident took place moments after the FORD Kenya party leader had just received the microphone from Mudavadi who had addressed the crowd.

"We have come here with William Ruto together with Musalia Mudavadi and Rigathi Gachagua to ask you one thing, that you vote for azimi.…," he stated.

“Support our group Kenya Kwanza because it is the group that cares about the issues affecting Kenyans,” he stated.

After the blunder, Wetangula continued with his address even as he called for the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to interrogate Muranga Women Representative Sabina Chege over sentiments she made at a rally in Luanda, Vihiga County.

Consequently, after the rally, a video of the incident made rounds on social media with various online users commenting on Wetangula’s slip of the tongue.

“Wetangula forgot where he was and said Azimio during a Kenya Kwanza rally in Nakuru,” a Social media user under the name Abdiaziz Hashim stated.

Wetangula’s slip of the tongue barely comes days after a parliamentary aspirant in Nambale, Busia County made the same blunder to endorse former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s Azimio during Ruto’s visit to western Kenya.

“You vote for Azimio of Kenya Kwanza. The one headed by the hustler himself, his excellency, Dr William Samoei Ruto,” the aspirant stated. :D

During the rally on February 7, Ruto was seen, turning his head in disappointment after the mistake by the politician.

Supporters of the Azimio claimed that the Nambale politician had a Freudian slip, a situation where somebody expresses their subconscious feelings unintentionally.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator and Deputy President William Ruto’s right-hand man, Kipchumba Murkomen, has called out President Uhuru Kenyatta for allegedly disrespecting State House after holding a meeting with young people at the facility on Friday, February 11.
The Senator on Saturday, February 12, accused the President of embarrassing State House after the young people he invited for a meeting chimed chants against Deputy President William Ruto.
Speaking in Navokholo, Kakamega County, Murkomen accused the President of clapping while the youth at State House chanted anti-Ruto slogans.

“For the first time in Kenya since we gained independence, yesterday was the first time I saw the President of Kenya leading a choir, and it was an unusual choir…I saw the President clapping… we were with this President. In 2013, he never sang everything is possible without Ruto… did he just realize that now?” Senator Murkomen posed.

The Senator noted that the late President Daniel Moi campaigned for Uhuru but did not at any given time chide his opponents.
“I want to tell the President that he embarrassed himself and he also embarrassed State House. We are telling the President to respect the institution of the State House. If you want to hold meetings with hecklers, we should meet at Kamukunji or Embakassi,” he added.

The Senator also opined that the people President Uhuru was hosting at State House on Friday were not a representation of the youth in the country.
“He should come here to Navokholo and hold meetings with young people and give them letters that will get them employed instead of taking brokers from Sagana and bringing them to Nairobi and Mombasa…We need an opportunity where the money for insulting people is distributed across the country.”

His comments came a day after the President met with more than 3,000 young people at State House, Nairobi where he disclosed that Jubilee Party would join Azimio La Umoja in a coalition pact.

Uhuru stated that the candidate at Azimio La Umoja (Raila Odinga) will be his preferred successor while dismissing his former ally Deputy President William Ruto.
