While dealing with yourself in the presence of God you don’t have to go tell anyone anything. For example if you had an affair why do you need to go and tell your spouse? It will make you feel better but what does it do to your spouse? Don’t let guilt lead you to hurt people in the name of getting right with God. Don’t reopen old wounds in the name of dealing with skeletons in your closet. Don’t hurt another in the name of making things right. Be wise. Go only where God sends you. And Brethren in the body of Christ sexual sin is confessed to someone of same gender not opposite gender unless it’s homosexuality. But even then it’s inappropriate to discuss sexual sin with someone of opposite gender.
