I remember in 2011 me and my couzo a retired brigadier in the army, tried to that security biz in Nairobi.
We were taken in circles Hadi tukachoka, a guy advised us security firms in Nairobi are rarely approved coz NIS is the one that gives a go ahead but most security firms are owned by senior officials at NIS.

we shifted base to kakamega In 2013, still we weren’t approved

By 2015 tuliachana na hiyo shughuli coz we had 3 main clients but walipata another security firm.

But surprisingly, other firms were still being licensed at relative ease

Weird.
Brigadier is too senior to face such disrespect…lazima kuna kitu hakuwaambia. My two uncles got registered very fast after they applied. One had been unceremoniously retired at the rank of Colonel on the eve of his promotion to brigadier…But he took it in his stride.The other one was a victim of Nyayo’s purge in 1982…kibaki gave them a lifeline when he came to power. Their firm is currently doing relatively well…let’s just say that it has been a very good retirement gig for them.
