Oh no, not that closet; I’m as straight as you can get. @carter troy banks asked a question yesterday that made me think about my situation. No, I don’t need a 10,000 w system. I’m just venting because I know of a solution. Just venting- I was listening to mugithi and Mike Rua was lamenting about how people are crying about different problems: mono balls (na sijataja mtu) are worried about their second ball while someone else is worried because they don’t any balls! That’s my kind of problem.
I have enough wattage than I need- the problem is that the @sshole that built my house screwed up big time and din’t get the structured wiring correct, neither did they label some of the wiring. I have a whole house video/audio system, but instead of incorporating everything into a single panel, they split it into different levels of the house. It works “o.k”, the problem is that I can’t have a centralized media server without doing extensive wiring (for the audiophiles, I don’t believe in any wireless crap!! Everything has to be connected by a solid cable).
This is one panel, which has cable tv, security system, internet/ethernet wiring and one-zone audio wiring that supports only a few rooms in the house:

This is another closet that supports the main media room (cinema room) and two media zones.

A third unit that supports just the family room!

I have 3 balls and I’d like to go mono ball and centralize everything into one closet so that I can control everything from a single panel. I have a plan of how to clean up/label the cables and get a centralized wiring closet. Will post when I’m done (may take a few months!)
I know, that’s why I want to clean up. Some of the ethernet cables were not even labeled; I’ve just tested them as I go along. Eventually I may need to get a bigger wiring rack after I centralize the audio/video distribution system. The wiring mess is only in the utility room that NEVER sees any visitors. The wiring terminals/outlets in all the rooms is up to code.
I don’t blame you. The wires are only visible in the utility room. The wiring runs behind the walls and you see in the other rooms are finished outlets. Wireless systems are easy to set up, but I can’t stand the quality of the sound/video with all the signal interference.
Bose’ works well for me . Wireless, good quality and portable everywhere I go!But a friend who is a doc told me he is treating many kids with eardrum related problems related to kuboom kutwaf kwa mats and homes. Just watch out !
Bose is really good. I like the idea of a home audio system because all I need is just a keypad on the wall and speakers on the ceiling, which don’t even need to be turned up high (oh yes, they can get loud) because the sound is evenly distributed in all rooms. You can also set up different zones if you’re entertaining a large group, and each group can listen to their own music without necessarily disturbing other guests.
Asande, lakini mimi sio mtu wa networking!! I don’t have the patience of configuring routers and switches (been there, done that until I started losing my hair!!)
Hizo Coaxial cables zinakaa good quality, i can tell they are well shielded, kazi itabaki ni labelling, the only signal interference is from those network cables. Otherwise the Audio system is fantastic… Lakini pambana tu na hali yako…
They are fine, though I don’t even use most of them. The house is wired for at least 20 tvs (if connected directly to each coaxial cable). It used to be a little more complex when I had satellite tv (which I discontinued because no one was watching and was just a waste of money). I only have direct cable now (no DVRs) which feeds directly to the tvs. There’s not much interference within the cables (at least not noticeable given the length).
Sure.
But in my case I want to do it for me. The fights for who listerns/watches what is quite boring. I explore and watch and listen so much shit which is unpalatable to most. If it lifts my spirits am game. Maybe with this I will get less weird looks.
