I have always suspected the CIA is deeply involved in the Ethiopian crisis. According to The Washington Post they were training and arming guerrillas to overthrow Mengistu. Since 1981, the CIA – under authorization by President Reagan provided about $500,000 a year to support propaganda and resistance tactics by an anticommunist group of Ethiopian dissidents.
Apparently Ethiopian security police had also abducted and tortured a Central Intelligence Agency officer involved in a CIA covert propaganda campaign against the Marxist government in Addis Ababa.
The tortured CIA officer was working in Addis Ababa under diplomatic cover as a commercial attache in the U.S. Embassy, where he was deeply involved with small antigovernment resistance cells.
Seems Tigray People’s Liberation Front is all a creation of the dirty CIA.
Abiy better he steps down. Uncle Sam is not yet done with Ethiopia.
Mzee Putin can only send some military hardware. Am told top army officers and pilots are Tigray.
That’s why Abiy told Addis residents (mostly Oromos) to prepare to defend the capital. Oromos are many but not battle hardened like the minority Tigrays.
The US has warned Tigrayan soldiers against advancing on Ethiopia’s capital as residents were told to arm themselves in preparation for battle.
The Tigrayan People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) have reportedly seized two key cities on a major highway to Addis Ababa, sparking panic in the cosmopolitan city which has so far been spared in the brutal year-long war.
On Tuesday officials ordered the 5m residents to procure any weapon they could and be ready to defend their neighbourhoods.
Meanwhile our state department boys from Crisis Response Team (CRT) and Special Program for Embassy Augmentation Response (S.P.E.A.R) have recently been conducting live drills with members of US DSS and ATA at US embassy Nairobi. Yeap you guessed it … in readiness for any eventualities in Addis. They are tasked with providing support for any US embassy within the region.
Why does this guy insight civilians to arm and defend the city??? Total chaos and a very high number of casualties due to collateral damage, akilemewa he should just exile himself and save Addis from war, he is trying to create a civil war yet ye ndo alirusha Mawe ya Kwanza, "live in a glass house…
Why can’t they save Kenyan soldiers who were kidnapped by Al Shabaab? I guess US embassy staffers are more important than our own country’s service members.
As ktalk spesho forces we are currently evacuating some NGO staff outskirts of addis, sebeta, and Debre birhan Amhara region. Life seems normal in the capital, but panic might check in sooner. Bye bye ethiopia as we know. Let the federal government deal with the consequences
