Most people dislike Chinese branded phones. Does that mean we don’t buy them? Well, this research report proves otherwise. Xiaomi, Huawei, ZTE, Tecno, Infinix, Injoo and the likes rule the upcoming African, Asian, and Indonesian market.
95% of smart phone sales are so called chinese phones. The big brands are feeling the heat. Actually, Nokia (now microsoft) mobile is officially dead curtesy of chinese phones. The chinese guys got it wrong at first but are very persistent and have got it right. For instance probably the biggest difference between a samsung note 4 or 5 and tecno phantom 5 is the 35k difference in price. Samsung device sales are really low in africa and will not get any better, given there market approach and pricing.
Infinix now have the new zero 3 with 16gb rom, 3GB RAM 4g internet, 20mp camera and 4000mah bat at about 20k. This is forcing the ‘main’ brands rethink their premium pricing. Thats where the tide is blowing.
Thats what everybody says before you experince it and realising they have been stealing from you.
If its about status you are right. If its about utility and value for money you are wrong.
By the way that note 4 or 5 is either manufactured in china or vietnam which is one and the same thing.
FYI Apple makes 65 to 75% profit from every device sold. If they were to make 20% which is still alot considering the sales volumes, we would be buying them iphones at tecno prices.
lets support these players to stop exploitation by the big guys. after all is said and done tecno phantom z is an awesome phone by whater parameters and so is infinix zero
Are you aware that huawei is currently the third largest smartphone vendor globally. They are already doing pretty well. You can not just call huawei a shitty oem when even google has entrusted it to build the nexus 6p flagship. Don’t judge a manufacturer on its low end offerings.
i personally…own and have owned tecno r7. call it a peasants fon…but it serves me great! wat else is there to compare with samsung if am getting same features by less than 20k…hii ni ile toyota mentality?
It is sometimes wise to consider brand when buying a smartphone. I can promise you that the level of after sales service and warranty is much better with the bigger brands. I have a friend who bought infinix hot note. It developed issues with the charging system. He took it to infinix for repair which was covered by the warranty and while it was fixed, the phone developed further complications. some of these cheap Chinese brands bar Huawei do employ your `kawaida fundi wa simu’ wheres the likes of Samsung have certified engineers working on electronics. Besides warranty issues, your can be assured that ther will be no custom ROMs for phones made by Tecno, infnix, injoo, wiko etc
You are wrong boss. Besides simple software upgrades, service for eg samsung is shitty. Hit or miss. Wait untill you need part replacement. Eg screen replacement is normally more than half the cost of the phone when new. New s6 60k, screen replacement via authorised service centre 35k. Via indipendent inporters 20k. Original s6 battery 4500/-.
Compare to infinix, tecno or huawei, screen are on average less than quarter the price of a new phone. And readily available. Can you explain what custom rom is to majority of users?
