Checki Maneno - An Encounter with the Legend

So I have not been able to bring you guys a checki maneno post for some time…but my good buddy @Gio has been taking up the challenge.

I am on a personal goal that I will share with you (maybe) after I achieve it. Towards that end today I was at Longonot for some serious training…running up and round the crater.

I am sure most of you guys have no idea there is a mini crater up there

So there we are approaching the tip of the crater and we are getting famished and it was also getting kinda scary. But we had a goal and we had to achieve it…nothing was gonna discourage us…Nothing!

You see that tip of the crater?, yea that was going to be our very first resting place…We were also watching our pace by looking at our performance and rating ourselves against the other climbers…they were slow and we were proud of the dust we were leaving behind.

But alas…the second we got on that tip…within a ferking blink of an eye…the legend DAVID KINJAH…zoomed past us like wind. Before my mind could finsh loading checki maneno…the nigga was gone…alikuwa ashapotelea kwa bushes tena…I remember looking behind us and there was absolutely no-one behind us…where he came from only God knows. I tried calling up and he was loong gone. Hapa nikajua I was in the presence of a legend.

Sisi hao tukatoka mbio tena…hehehe lets just say we were not able to keep up. na hatukumuona tena

We finally make it downhill…and guess what we find…bikes parked right outside that park…it was an awesome sight to behold…

I later on found him relaxing and we chatted for some time…the guy is very friendly despite his legendary status. We even talked about some his experiences including last years ride from Cairo to South Africa…the link is in here somewhere from @Meria Mata

I was on that road around two weeks ago…perfect road for riding

lol dont do it! its a game where you assume there arent any mommy hippos around.

They always raise their babies in the shallows and they’re a far worse danger than crocs ever will be!
