CS Nakhumicha Offers Charlene Ambassadorial Role

Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha has appointed President William Ruto’s daughter Charlene Ruto as the Kenya Blood Ambassador.
In a statement seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the CS acknowledged Charlene’s efforts in consistent campaigns for blood donation, advocating the public to join the initiative.
Through her efforts, CS Nakhumicha noted that more Kenyan youth are joining the campaigns in a bid to save lives.
“The Ministry of Health recognizes and appreciates your selfless contribution to Kenya through your consistent blood donation, advocacy, educating and mobilizing your family members, community, peers and the general Kenyan citizens to engage in blood donations,” the statement read in part.

“Special recognition is on your efforts to mobilize resources that support blood donation activities and blood establishments,”
“This letter is to appoint you as a Kenya Blood Ambassador and ask that: you continue to be a spokesperson to your friends, Kenyan Youth family, peers and Kenyan citizens and to engage and encourage people to give blood to save lives; from time to time collaborate with the Kenya Tissue and Transplant Authority or partners in blood-related events including public education and resource mobilization.”
Charlene has been a fierce advocate for equality and fighting for the rights of the less privileged in society. She adopted the “30 Things” programs revolving around three thematic areas; Youth in Action, Youth and the Society and Climate Action.
“My educational and experiential background in communication and hospitality compounds to ensure that the young people’s brilliant and creative ideas become actionable entrepreneurship platforms and that they live a wholesome life i.e career-wise, emotionally, financially, mentally, physically and socially,” reads part of Charlene’s official website.
Following President Ruto’s ascent to office after the August General Election, Charlene sparked debate after conducting several meetings with key political players.
In one of her meetings, Charlene mentioned the Office of the First Daughter, which prompted observers to speculate that the office was funded using taxpayers’ money.
Following the uproar, Charlene later explained that the office is a private initiative that facilitates her advocacy programs. She added that it is not a constitutional office.

Govt Explains Charlene Ruto Absence As Blood Ambassador When Needed

The Kenya Tissue and Transplant Authority (KTTA) on Sunday explained the absence of Charlene Ruto from the limelight after landing a blood ambassadorial role on January 18.
KTTA remarked that Charlene Ruto was still executing her mandate behind the scenes.
The explanation was made after Kenyans raised concerns that the First Daughter was not at the forefront in mobilizing Kenyans to donate blood following a gas explosion in Embakasi that left over 300 people injured.
While many leaders from the government and opposition had called for Kenyans to donate blood, Charlene Ruto had remained conspicuously silent.

“A lot happens behind the curtains for effective service delivery and a healthier nation aligned with Universal Health Coverage,” the Authority stated.
“While not all efforts are publicized, we are actively on the ground with our blood ambassadors for the Embakasi tragedy.”
A few hours after the Authority’s statement, Charlene Ruto revealed that she had mobilised Kenyans towards a successful blood drive.
“Together with many selfless and intentional Kenyans, we managed to collect over 50 pints of blood,” she stated.
According to President William Ruto’s daughter, the blood will go a long in improving health and saving lives in emergencies for many of those in need.
The first daughter had been appointed to the position by Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha.
“Continue to be a spokesperson to your friends, Kenyan Youth family, peers and Kenyan citizens and to engage and encourage people to give blood to save lives,” Nakhumicha stated then.
As a blood ambassador, she was requested to partner with KTTA in blood donation drives including public education and resource mobilisation.
