Piloting of CBC was done in a hurry and without much consideration. The curriculum is very expensive and only kids in the urban areas will be able to participate actively.
For example kijana alipewa assignment ya kupiga picha na kuprint the “big five”…ilibidi tumeenda national park nikizungusha mjunia.you can imagine someone in the rural area mwenye maybe the parent is illitrate atatoa wapi time and resources to do all that.
Alafu nlishangaa watoto wa grade 4 wanaanza kupewa project za kufanya… Getting materials to do the projects is costly.Wangu aliambiwa atengeneze water purifier…wadau hii kitu imeniharibia mechi flani na mrembo wa Absa…
Anyway it’s time for the stationary oligarchs to make money…
CBC is about enhancing creativity in our kids. Mtoto kuambiwa apige na a print big 5 will gain the following just from that assignment:
What are the big 5
Where are animals found in Kenya
What is a camera?
How to use a camera to capture nice shots
What is a printer?
How is a printer used?
From hio assignement ya water filter ata learn:
Why is water dirty?
Why do we need to filter dirty water
What are the alternatives to filtering water e.g. use of chemicals, etc
Simply put our kids will be more exposed than we ever were. Appreciate the new system and learn to embrace it. Sio ku criticize kila kitu just because you think its ‘unaffordable to the poor’.
Hii ni CBC ni umeffi tupu. Ni mzazi anasoma ama ni mtoto. Hii story ya kufanyishwa homework haileti bidii. Sirikali iamue kama ni wazazi watalipa school fees ama ni hao wanafanya homework.
It IS unaffordable to the poor. Wandia Njoya alichambua hii mnyama in its propasal stages na tukampuuza. Aside from that, sisi watu tuko na watoto wanasoma cbc are mos Def feelin the heat.
I LOVE CBC !
Mi sioni why people are complaining about it. I get to do these assignments with my son. He asks questions and somehow I also learn new things. The projects , like the tippy tap are challenging but doable. You don’t need to buy expensive shiet to do any of it.
