Buying a second hand car

Let me ask, what is the process of buying a locally used car?

Just the pointers and things to watch out for.

  1. If possible find a car that is being sold by the owner directly and not through brokers.
  2. If it is through a broker, make sure it is a trusted broker or car yard. Check up their names and phone numbers on different platforms to see if they have any history of conning.
  3. View the car you are interested in with a person with some experience on vehicles, if possible a mech.
  4. Go for a test drive with the your trusted person and confirm car is functioning well.
  5. Confirm ownership details if you like the car (avoid units with ownership issues).
  6. Check engine no. and chassis no, to confirm it is what is indicated on the log book.
  7. Transact via a bank, electronic transfer and have a sales agreement if you are not transferring ownership immediately…
  8. Transfer ownership as soon as you complete payment.

Unapata a chain of brokers wanaongezea 100k+ above the owner’s price :D:D

Never be in a hurry when looking for a local unit. Have in mind the model you want and check out several units

Bought one from owner directly but brokers were quoting 400k above owners price

Chunga brokers sana. Ask if the names on the log book matches with their ID. Also have a good mechanic go check it out mlipe tu kakitu kadogo and he will save you alot of agony in the future. Avoid gari imefanyiwa modification, rims, tints, loud exhaust, huge music system coz zinaendeshangwa na vijana wenda wazimu who race and abuse them(you will clean alot of cum stains in the seats). Better ununue kwa aunty wa harrier gari imeendeshwa kwa kubembelezwa. Finally make sure umebariki hiyo gari by kupigia dem shot moja ndani

Second hand cars in Kenya is a scam. Unanunua gari leo unafanya checks zote na mechanic iko sawa. Kesho ukiwasha inaanza kulia kama kisiagi ya @uwesmake.
