Just the pointers and things to watch out for.
- If possible find a car that is being sold by the owner directly and not through brokers.
- If it is through a broker, make sure it is a trusted broker or car yard. Check up their names and phone numbers on different platforms to see if they have any history of conning.
- View the car you are interested in with a person with some experience on vehicles, if possible a mech.
- Go for a test drive with the your trusted person and confirm car is functioning well.
- Confirm ownership details if you like the car (avoid units with ownership issues).
- Check engine no. and chassis no, to confirm it is what is indicated on the log book.
- Transact via a bank, electronic transfer and have a sales agreement if you are not transferring ownership immediately…
- Transfer ownership as soon as you complete payment.
